Good strand of quartz crystal beads (and a few carnelians) excavated from the Tak Burial site near. Mae Sot along the Thai/Burmese border. These can be reliable dated to least 14th/16th centuries due to known and datable ceramics that were found in the same strata, but having said these can be much older as stone beads and have been traded in the region for at least 2000 years. Lovely, circa 18th century wood statue of the Chinese Goddess of Mercy seated on a lotus leaf and buds. There is one stem broken on the left bud and the backing plug on the consecration niche is missing. This has the original dedication but it is unreadable. Most likely from Southern China it has traces of the original gilt and lacquer. These have become quite scarce these days due to domestic demand in China, this piece was lucky find coming from an Australian collection...

Rare Yue glazed, four lugged jar with attractive “iron” spot from the Western Jin Dynasty (265-420). This piece is fully glazed on the outside with some degradation on the inner mouthrim annd shoulder, having said this the glaze is stable with no fritting- there is one tiny chip on edge of mouthrim and a firing chip on the base, which I would deem insignificant on this type of piece...

Quirky “Budai”circa Mid Qing Dynasty, possibly much earlier. This is a high fired pottery molded piece. Stylistically this figure hasn’t changed much since the Song Dynasty so precise dating is difficult. This is an excavated piece and has a similar glaze to Jizhou but without the expected craquelure. Quite possibly this Shekwan piece emulating this. In excellent condition the spot on the nose there is no glaze where it as either been rubbed off or simply never took...

Alabaster Shan Buddha circa 18th century. This has been left out in the sun and rain for the past 10 years so the surface has begun to degrade (a good lesson in the Buddhist fundamental of Anicca: the impermanence of all things). The head has been reattached. The base is hollow: the only example I have ever seen with this. H: 27cm/10.6in and W: 11cm/4.2in.

Southern Song vase with Jizhou glaze and impressed floral and lotus patterns, an interesting piece in that this type of piece is usually found in Qingbai ware, with which they were often fired at the same kilns with. There are some blue highlights and minor fritting in the glaze (as is typical of Jizhou) and one repaired chip which may be viewed in last enlargement. H: 15cm/5.9in and D: 8cm/3.1in.
