Lovely gray pottery head of a woman from the Han Dynasty, Sichuan province. Early funerary art from Sichuan is quite distinct from the Han from the Central Plains of Shaanxi. In general Han Sichuan images show more emotion in their expressions and are far less abstract. Prior to their assimilation during the Qin Dynasty, Sichuan was composed of ethnically and politically separate non Han cultures. In my opinion this can be easily seen temperament and style of their art...

Good strand of quartz crystal beads (and a few carnelians) excavated from the Tak Burial site near. Mae Sot along the Thai/Burmese border. Artifacts from this dig are from 14th/16th CE due to datable ceramics that were found in the same strata, but having said this, these are much older, as similar beads and have been found in the Ban Chiang and Lopburi (Bronze Age sites) and have been traded in the region for at least 2000 years...

Unusual pair of gray stoneware Cizhou funeral jars with white slip, clear glaze and appliqué human figures on the neck. Some of the glaze came off when trying to clean the dirt adhesions off so best to leave it alone for now. Soak it for a week or to in plain water and it might come of with a toothbrush under running water. Usually this style is found in a Qingbai glaze and these are the only ones I have seen in Cizhou...
