Exceptionally rare bronze Burmese/Shan musician which would have been part of Buddhist “nativity ensemble”. These consist of dancers, devotees and musicians celebrating his birth with the young Buddha forming the focal point of the group. Usually these types of images are quite crude and small being placed inside chedis/stupas as a form of merit making and were never meant to be displayed on a Buddhist altar. This one however would have been displayed in private home or temple...

Very rare Yuan dynasty small vase from the Jingdezhen, Hutian Kiln in the Shufu/Luan Bai egg white glaze, probably made for the scholar’s desk. There is one firing or potting flaw right on the edge of the mouthrim which has caused some minor fritting, viewable in enlargements. Please note that my photo editing software tends to truncate images somewhat so this piece is much more slender and elegant than is reflected in the pictures. H: 12.2cm/2.8in and D: 7cm/2.7in.

Good 12th century Song/Jin Dynasty dark brown Cizhou type bowl most likely from a Henan kiln. This has been dipped in a russet colored glaze and again in a near black one. The surface has a pleasing iron oxide paraffin patina. There is one chip that has been repaired with gold leaf and the original small shards easily seen enlargements, the foot rim is quite crisp and relatively thin for a bowl of this type. D: 16cm/6.2in and H: 6.8cm/2.8in.
