Four old Taoist, Dao Gong priest’s wooden stamps representing Pan Hung (Dragon dog) who is considered to be the ancestor of the Yao/Mien ethnic group from Guangxi, Laos or Vietnam. These items are carved from wood, the larger one has a Chinese characters on the shoulder (which I assume was the owner’s name) and the one with a Tiger’s face has the Chinese character “wang”, meaning king carved into forehead...

Very rare and quirky phallic shaped small Bowenite- “Suzhou” jade hairpin from the Ming Dynasty, the woman I bought this from referred to it as the “gao” (a crude Cantonese expression for penis- so it’s not just my imagination) jade. Bowenite is not as hard as nephrite and amongst Chinese collectors is considered “soft jade”. L: 8.3cm/3.2in. The last enlargement is a reference from Chinese Jade by Jessica Rawson and was found in a tomb near Shanghai.

Old Tibetan Yak Butter Tea bowl carved from burlwood, possibly Rhododendron, it can be anywhere from 50 to a 100 years old. Most of the more recent ones will have spinning marks on the bottom where it would have been turned on a machine lathe. The dimensions are D:11.8cm/4.6in and H: 5cm/1.9in, there is one worn chip on the edge which is pretty normal for these things.

Rare “Samarkand” meditation panel woven in Khotan, Xinjiang made for the Sino/Tibetan market. This has an abstract floral and cloud center medallion with typical key fret border. There is one small bare spot in the pile noted in last enlargement otherwise excellent original condition. Cotton warp and weft with wool pile, circa 1920. 64cm/25in x 64cm/25in.

Lovely antique suanzhi wood planing tool. I bought this because of the anthropomorphic shape in the center which looks vaguely like a Zhu Ming or Han Dynasty tomb figure. Circa 50 to 80 years old, this is a nice “stand alone” art piece or can be repurposed for antique Chinese furniture repair. There are a couple of checks in the wood as can be seen in enlargements. L: 19cm/7.5in, W: 6.5cm/2.7in and 4cm/1.5 at its thickest point.

Eclectic trio of Sino/Tibetan wood phurbus, from the Songpan region, Sichuan China. This area is a stronghold of the indigenous Tibetan Bon religion so these may be artifacts from them. These date circa pre World War 2 to early 20th century and although the pigment is flaking off the carvings are in good condition except for some minor damage to the head in the first phurbu). Lengths are noted in enlargements.

Rare 3 paneled sleeping rug ”Khaden” from Tibet. This rug is constructed with a cotton warp and undyed wool weft. The pile is unusually supple and soft for a Tibetan rug and the orange and red dyes are probably aniline while the red field appears to be organic madder dye. Most Tibetan carpets are woven in one single piece but the “tsuk-truk” carpet is made in sections on a smaller portable “trikja” loom, which along with the abrash typical of nomadic lifestyle...

Small bottle vase with scholar and mountain scene- porcelains from the end of Ming to the beginning of the Qing Dynasties, (1620-1683 CE) are very rare and expensive, so this is a good opportunity for collectors to acquire a piece from this period at an affordable price. The mouth rim has been ground down and has some chips. Please note that this is more graceful looking in real life than the images indicate as my photo editing software seems to truncate things a bit...

Good Qing/Ming Dynasty stone ritual axe blade carved with a tiger’s face on the surface. This is not jade but a softer stone mostly likely dyed serpentine. This piece emulates an ancient style i.e., Shang or Zhou period but is antique guaranteed to be at least Qing Dynasty or possibly Ming- a good example of old hand done carving techniques.
