Exceptionally rare small Tang lion from the Changsha Kiln, in Hunan Province. Almost 99% of all wares from this kiln are subject to heavy flaking and fritting of the glaze so this piece has been professionally restored and the glaze stabilized, using modern and up to date materials. Please examine the enlargements carefully. This is a vessel of some sort with a serviceable spout in the mouth most likely meant for the scholar’s desk. H: 7cm/2.8in.

Ensemble of three Nepali ghurra netis, which are used to hold churning sticks in the process of making butter from Nepali hill minorities. Nice worn patina, circa 60 to 90 years old, the one on the right appears to be older. No kitchen should be without these! The large one has a crack at the end, see last enlargement for scale.

Rare and well sculpted marble torso of Buddha seated in the Bhadra asana from the Tang Dynasty. This is a classic piece which clearly illustrates the Gandharan Greek inspired influence on early Chinese Buddhist art. The head and lower portion of base were not original on this piece so were removed by the previous owner. Included is a custom made stand. H: 13.7cm/5.4in and W: 11.2cm/4.4in.

Southern Song Qingbai bowl with light green glaze and exquisite combed abstract floral pattern from the San Hu kilns, Jingdezhen. This piece is high fired with a clear bell like tone when tapped with a finger nail. It has been professionally cleaned and has one unprofessional filled chip (by me). There is a firing warp noted in enlargements. D: 17cm/6.7in and H: 5.7cm/2.2in.

Good pair of Tang Dynasty gray clay bricks depicting “Atlas” type figures seated on lotus flowers. I was in Taxila once and saw similar figures which to my mind illustrate the Greco/Roman influence in Tang art. The lotus shows indicates an obvious Buddhist connection. Both pieces are painted with “stucco” in good condition with no damage. W: 14.5cm/5.8in and H: 17.7cm/7in each.

Fine and rare Qijia culture (2400 BCE – 1900 BCE) three handled pot. This style is well documented in Dawn of the Red Earth and Neolithic Pottery: Muwentang Collection by Simon Kwan. There is some discoloration one section of the rim indicating an attempt to restore some very minor shallow chips but nothing egregious and in good condition given its antiquity. H: 9.2cm3.6in and mouthrim D: 11.3cm/4in.

Rare classic, late 19th/early 20th century standing Lao/Lanna Buddha with one hand raised in the abhaya dispelling fear gesture. This piece represents a very eclectic regional style with inset stone eyes, “durian” spiky hair and exaggerated hands. The robe and gesture is typically Lao but the ears show a Lanna Thai influence- political borders are meaningless when it comes to Buddhist iconography from the Golden Triangle region...

Nice strand of Kushan/Bactrian of mixed carnelian) beads. I acquired these along with coins dating 1st- 4th CE from the same site in North West Pakistan, so these can be dated no later than 1500 years old, having said this I have seen similar things dating as far back as 2000 BCE so these are probably much older and were traded down over the centuries. Strung on wire cable with screw type clasp. L: 45cm/17.8in.

Very rare man’s ceremonial tunic from the Chin ethnic group, probably Falam Township, Chin State Myanmar. I would consider this an antique heirloom blanket between 1910-1940 woven from hand spun cotton thread and natural dyes. This incorporates the classic Chin diamond twill weft pattern as well as double side embroidery...

Ensemble of six Qing Dynasty red agate and carnelian pieces carved into babies, bats and a “foo” dog face. Originally these were meant to be sewn on clothing- possibly a woman's cap, now they are strung on a macraméd faux silk chord. tThe pieces tend to hang too close together in the center or may be worn as a choker- a possible remedy might be to insert a wire into the chord to stiffen it up a bit...

Seven Qing Dynasty red agate and carnelian monkey pendants. These are strung on a macraméd faux silk chord, however they tend to hang too close together in the center, a possible remedy might be to insert a wire into the chord to stiffen it up a bit. Otherwise I am selling these as set, ideal for a bead or jewelry designer. The loose larger piece depicts a monkey on a leaf holding a peach (this one has a chip on the back), note scale in enlargements.
