Early People’s Republic of China molded, green glass vase (emulating celadon jade) and in the style of a Han Dynasty Hu, circa 1960 to 1970. Although millions of decorative items were produced during this period very little has survived to this day, especially anything made of glass. This piece is “as new” condition, with the original label, no damage whatsoever. Today it is easier to find original Han Hu then one of these. H: 28cm/11in and D: 20cm/7.9in.

Glass charm emulating white nephrite Jade inscribed with delicate Arabic writing on both sides, which I assume to be verses from the Koran. This set is in silver with a copper loop to hold on a chord. I bought this in Hong Kong so original provenance is unknown- possibly from the Xinjiang, Turkic Uyghur speaking area. Jade was very popular during the Mughal period in India and I would date this piece circa 19th century. Excellent condition- no chips or cracks. L 5.3cm/2.1in and W...

Fine and rare Ming Dynasty, emulating white Jade, belt fastener made of glass. There are a few tiny chips but they are too small to photograph. Glass artifacts in good condition are more difficult to find than Jade given its fragility. In the center there is a “Shou”-Chinese longevity character, surrounded by cloud scrolls and a meander pattern on the perimeter. L: 6cm/2.3in and W: 4.6cm/1.8in. Quirky Chinese milk glass ink pad with lid. This piece was manufactured by the Shanghai Jin Cheng Industrial Arts Corporation and dates circa Republic era (1920s). 10cm/4in x 7cm/2.7in x 3.2cm/1.2in. This has few chips on the edge and still serviceable, actually it is quite amazing that this has survived in this good condition at all given the tumultuous events of the times.

Ensemble of very old beads, I found these in a small shop in Phrae, Northeast Thailand a few years ago. The green mottled beads are late Qing Dynasty Peking glass, the brown glass tapered tube bead emulating agate was probably made for the Funan or Chenla Kingdoms as I have agate beads from the same period which are pretty much identical, the white bead with orange splash is at least early Qing. The jewel in the crown, so to speak, is the roughly faceted blue glass Chinese eye bead w...

Unusual “pile” of old glass cylinder beads picked up in Mae Sot, Thailand along the Burmese border about 6 years ago and are from Burma. These were meant for Victorian Era, British colonials who most likely used them for beaded curtains. I assuming these are of Bohemian, Czech (possibly Japanese) manufacture but am certain that they are old- circa late 19th/early 20th century. There are 20 strands with around 20 8cm beads per strand and total length of 1.75cm/5ft9in ea, so about 400 beads. A...

Quirky glass ring emulating agate. This piece came from China but possibly is a trade object. I acquired this in a lot of other ancient pieces. A conservative dating to this is Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and guarantees it to this period. There is one crack as well as some bubble burst pitting on the surface. Outer D: 2.8cm and inner D: 1.9cm.
