Delightful gilt bronze button or belt ornament depicting a bear. Good strand of quartz crystal beads (and a few carnelians) excavated from the Tak Burial site near. Mae Sot along the Thai/Burmese border. These can be reliable dated to least 14th/16th centuries due to known and datable ceramics that were found in the same strata, but having said these can be much older as stone beads and have been traded in the region for at least 2000 years. L: 55cm/21.5 in. Weight 180 grams. See enlargements for scale and condition. Please note that the large purpl...

Rare Yue glazed, four lugged jar with attractive “iron” spot from the Western Jin Dynasty (265-420). This piece is fully glazed on the outside with some degradation on the inner mouthrim annd shoulder, having said this the glaze is stable with no fritting- there is one tiny chip on edge of mouthrim and a firing chip on the base, which I would deem insignificant on this type of piece. The concave bottom and lack of firing support marks are indicative that this was from a Norther...

Alabaster Shan Buddha circa 18th century. This has been left out in the sun and rain for the past 10 years so the surface has begun to degrade (a good lesson in the Buddhist fundamental of Anicca: the impermanence of all things). The head has been reattached. The base is hollow: the only example I have ever seen with this. H: 27cm/10.6in and W: 11cm/4.2in.

Rare and beautiful circa 6th CE thick cylindrical long cylider shaped Pre Khmer banded agate bead. I acquired this about 13 years ago in Thailand; at that time I was told it came out of Cambodia. Recently I came across a photo reference for this type of bead- Khmer Gold: Gifts for the Gods: Emma Bunker and Douglas Lateford, which identifies this as pre 6th century which would make it either Chenla or Funan Kingdoms, and excavated in Banteay Meanchy Province, Cambodia, which backs up the origin...
