Pottery head of a female court attendant from the Han Dynasty. A lovely face with sensitive features, original red pigments on face, this image embodies the most classic style of Han sculpture. There is an iron armature in the neck that was most likely part of a new restoration. Special offer: if you are a clever bunny and have deft hands at restoration I’ll include the entire image for an additional $50.00. The head and body appear to be “matched” but am not sure if they are married...

Rare statue of a woman and child standing from Sichuan, Han Dynasty. Very poignant image of a small child leaning into its mother. The image though quite simple is very emotive capturing the feeling affection between them. There may some repair behind the head as the clay has a different color and texture but it is the same hardness and color when I scratch it, so in all honesty it is difficult to tell, for sure either way. H: 22.5cm.

Lovely Dian Kingdom chalcedony “nipple bead” circa 400 BCE to 100 BCE, with “moonlike” translucence. These button like ornaments were unique to this culture, they were used in decorating bronze buckles, funeral shrouds as well as clothing and strung as beads. Quite rare these days- I haven’t seen a “fresh” pieces on market for several years. Large Khmer pedestal jar circa 12th century with dark brown glaze. This piece has a large restoration to the top - normally the neck would be much longer but this has taken the piece from another, of the period jar, and attached it to this. Overall the glaze is excellent on this piece and has retained its elegance. H: 30cm/12in and D: 23cm/9in. This piece is quite heavy and weighs 3.5kg.

Exceptionally rare, grey pottery, recumbent tiger, circa Han Dynasty. So far this is the only one I have ever seen, outside of a book. Good Tang Dynasty gray clay brick depicting “Atlas” type figure seated on a lotus blossom I was in Taxila once and saw similar figures which to my mind illustrates the Greco/Roman influence in Tang art. Rare high fired gray, hand sculpted relief, pottery wall tile- circa Song/Jin Dynasty depicting two mounted elephants engaged in battle. This has the original red, green and white pigments, which are still quite vivid after almost 1000 years. This is most likely from Shanxi Province. The depiction of “war elephants” is quite unusual, in that as far as I know, they were never used in China although some Southeast Asian kingdoms and India used them. No damage or repair, although the ...

Good Tang Dynasty straw colored pottery camel with original white pigment. This piece has been repaired at the body, neck and legs (as most always are). There was layer of mud put on this to hide the repair and I have removed as a much as possible just so you know it’s there but is not glaringly obvious. Nice size, this animal embodies the spirit of the ancient “Silk Road”, if not Xi Jin Ping’s “One Belt One Road Initiative”. H: 32.5cm/12.8in and L: 28cm/11in

Rare Buddhist votive terra cotta plaque, circa 10th, or earlier. Very interesting iconography with the Buddha seated on a lotus supported by two Brahma (Nandi) bulls and central Ganesha head. So far I have not found any references to similar piece, so this could be a one of a kind. The inclusion of Hindu deities, suggest that this may have a Pala influence He is surrounded by a dotted nimbus on his torso, with a flaming one around his head, seated beneath a Bo tree Condition as pictured, the...
