Fine women’s unopened, tubular skirt with oval floral pattern (aungright nene) from the Chin related, small Khumi ethnic group. The Khumi are the found in Bangladesh, Chittagong Hills and Chin/Rakhine states, Myanmar. This piece is in excellent condition with all hand spun and natural red and indigo dyes, circa 1970 (more or less). L: 86cm/33.8ijn (x2) and W: 36cm/14.1in.

Rare woman’s skirt (pukhang) from the Kachin/Jingpo ethnic group, Northeast Burma. This is two panels with supplementary weft trim on the ends made of dog hair. Mostly natural dye and indigo. It is quite a durable weave with denim like feel. There is some staining, one small hole as well as a bit of dye bleeding. Fine and rare five paneled skirt, from the Meifu subgroup of the Li people Hainan Island, circa mid 20th century. This kind of ikat textile is unique among Chinese minority groups.
