Absolutely fabulous vintage complete, Red Yao, (aka Kiem Mien) womanâ€™s long jacket from the Sapa area, Vietnam. There are a few holes and patches, but itâ€™s all here, just washed and very wearable. This piece has been well worn and well loved. It is all handwoven with hand spun cotton thread with mostly indigo dye. L: 122cm/48in and W: 128cm/50 (opened at waist). There is a similar example in Jess Pouretteâ€™s â€śThe Yaoâ€ť page 101, plate 216. Circa 50 to 60 years old.

Finely woven Iban womenâ€™s kain skirt, from Kapit, circa 1940 with â€śeye of the green pigeonâ€ť and bamboo pattern, from the Kapit area. Fine and tight weaves like this, indicate that owner was from a high status. There is one repair noted in enlargements. The ikat is made from all handspun and natural dyes while the colored bands are commercial thread. L: 115cm/42.5in and W: 57cm/22.5in.

Iban womanâ€™s kain skirt from Sarawak depicting the tree of life with bamboo running the length of the bidang. There is some fraying on the selvedge, and a seamless repair noted in enlargements. Beautiful West Timor (most likely Isana), Indonesia, three paneled, ikat blanket. This is woven from a combination of natural dyed home spun cotton and commercial thread. The blue ikat bands are made from the homespun thread and natural indigo dye with a â€śmau fuâ€ť pattern, representing wild jungle fowl- a symbol of virility, which is very intricate, symmetrical and well balanced. Beautiful, unopened, three paneled womanâ€™s sarong from Flores Island, Indonesia. Circa 40 to 50 years old. All hand spun and woven cotton and natural dyes. Very soft and in perfect condition. The incorporation of indigo dyes is quite subtle giving it the depth. L: 142cm/56in and W: 158cm/60in.

Fine old wedding blanket from the Maonan ethnic group in Southern China. This has a classic floral, butterfly and phoenix weft embroidered pattern. Excellent condition with no damage- this is woven with all handspun cotton thread with some tiny bits of silk floss.
