Exceptionally fine old Thai “Siam Silver” repousse Zippo lighter case with Apsaras, Erawan and Garuda depicted. I have collected about 7 of these since 1974 and this is the finest one I have ever seen. This one has workmanship on all sides except the bottom where it has a Siam Sterling hallmark and the initials D J M etched; normally these are only worked on the front and back. These are occasionally offered on Ebay but you will never see one with such a high standard of craftsmanship that ...click for details

Very rare, large early Ming Buddha (or earlier) this piece has been in my personal collection for about 10 years, it had belonged to another private collector 10 years prior. The small mouth and expressive face seems to set this as being earlier than Ming, so this is a conservative dating. The materials used in its construction (clay mixed with straw and hard clay exterior) is typical of what is seen in Northern China (Gansu, Shaanxi and Ningxia) where the climate is extremely arid- a clas ...click for details

Rare classic early 20th century standing Lao/Lanna Buddha with one hand raised in the abhaya dispelling fear gesture. This piece represents a very eclectic regional style with inset stone eyes, “durian” spiky hair and exaggerated hands. The robe and gesture is typically Lao but the ears show a Lanna Thai influence- political borders are meaningless when it comes to Buddhist iconography from the Golden Triangle region. It is carved from a hardwood most likely golden teak and covered with gold l ...click for details

Cambodian bronze water pot from Pursat Province, Cambodia 12th-13th CE- Khmer Period. This item was used during religious ceremonies for pouring water on Khmer icons and devotees in purification and blessing rituals. The truncated shape on this one is very unusual, only one of two I have ever seen. Please note; the spout on this is a clever restoration and is probably made from some sort of auto restoration product like Bondo. The hole in the body is original. Prior to this discovery it was li ...click for details

Very rare bronze image of a Chinese fairy holding a lotus leaf on his head. This may be a reference to having many sons as the image of a boy carrying a lotus over his shoulder is a common motif in Qing and Ming jade carvings. Lovely typically Ming round face with fine black patina. The two back supporting legs of the base look to be intentionally cut off some time ago as the cut edge is worn and well patinaed. There is an incised Chinese character inside the base but cannot make out what ...click for details

Good standing bronze image of a Khmer female deity (most likely Uma) holding a lotus bud in both hands, circa 13th century- Bayon style. This is, as we say, a fixer upper. One arm and the base have cleanly broken off during transit. Rather than repair and list with possibility that this might break again being shipped, I thought it better to sell as is with buyer doing this themselves (and then try and not to move it around too much). Fixing it would be fairly straightforward by just gluing back ...click for details

Beautiful buff sandstone sculpture of a feminine head from Northwest India/Pakistan, circa 100CE – 500CE (guaranteed to be from this period). This item is from the Gandharan/Mathura cultures. I acquired this a piece a few years ago from an American collection and has an old hole from where it was previously mounted. Included is a custom made perspex stand made as part of purchase price. H: 17cm/6.6in and W: 10.5cm/4.1in (weight 2.3kg/5lbs).

Complete set of five Shan Buddhist images comprised of a Buddha three monks and a chedi. These are covered with traditional gold and back lacquer and the bodies are made from compressed powdered herbs or temple incense ash. These have a quirky abstract quality to them, their facelessness represents that the individual is inconsequential but has the potential for becoming a Buddha, on the bottom are the eight Burmese zodiac symbols based on the days of the week. For some reason the Wednesday ...click for details

Good standing bronze image of a Khmer female deity (most likely Uma) holding a lotus bud in one hand, circa 13th century- Bayon style. This was possibly part of a larger ensemble as she has a plinth beneath the base, the piece in the other hand is missing but most likely it was another lotus bud. Included is a custom made perspex stand, H: 13.4cm/5.2in (not including stand). Reference- Heaven and Empire: Khmer Bronzes from the 9th to 15th Centuries by Marlene L.
