$150.USD

Very rare and quirky phallic shaped small Bowenite- “Suzhou” jade hairpin from the Ming Dynasty, the woman I bought this from referred to it as the “gao” (a crude Cantonese expression for penis- so it’s not just my imagination) jade. Bowenite is not as hard as nephrite and amongst Chinese collectors is considered “soft jade”. L: 8.3cm/3.2in. The last enlargement is a reference from Chinese Jade by Jessica Rawson and was found in a tomb near Shanghai.

Exceptionally fine and sophisticated collection of three polished stone axes. These were acquired in Northern Thailand and aside from that I have no further information. This could be anywhere from 4000 to 2000 years old. The stones have a jade like hardness and cannot be scratched with a steel blade. The cutting edges are still amazing sharp with only minute chips. Scale in enlargements.

Very rare early Tang Dynasty bronze vase. There is one repair noted in enlargement 5# where the previous owner had knocked an 8mm hole on the side, he kept the original chip and I simply glued it back in and covered the fracture with a bit of original bronze filings. This is covered in typical azurite verdigris- beneath the bronze is quite stable and thick so this might be able to be either manually or chemically or cleaned. H: 26.5cm/10.5in and D: 12cm/4.8in. Stunning bronze sword handles from the Dian Kingdom. Judging from the heavy triangular pommels and spikes near the blade, these were obviously designed for close quarter combat that would look right at home in a fight scene out of Game of Thrones. These have contrasting azurite and malachite patinas with traces of the original iron blades. The Dian were a fierce and independent kingdom living in the vicinity of Dianchi Lake in Yunnan Province which chronologically paralleled the Warr ...click for details
