Delightful carving of a nephrite jade cat, Qing Dynasty. Please note how each hair is painstakingly hand carved and the naturally occurring dark colors in the stone are incorporated into the carving. If you turn him over you will see he is hiding a fish between his paws. May be worn as a toggle/pendant or left free standing. Excellent condition, L” 4cm/1.5in, acquired in a state owned Antiques and Curios shop in Luoyang, Shaanxi Province in the late 80s.

Fine Hetian nephrite jade animal carving in the form of toad hiding beneath a leaf. In Chinese traditional philosophy this represents that even a humble toad when croaking beneath a leaf will make itself heard, (the leaf amplifying his voice). In context this was meant in terms of after a student passes his exams that he can make his virtues known. Early to mid 20th century the carving incorporates the original natural brown “skin” for the leaf. There is one chip on the leaf above the head noted ...click for details

Fine Hetian jade carving of “Heavenly Horse” galloping through the clouds. The style is Han Dynasty although I believe the piece to mid 20th century. There is a natural inclusion on the mane and base as well as a few “flea bites” otherwise in excellent condition and made of high quality Xinjiang nephrite. L: 5.2cm/2in, H: 3.6cm/1.5in and 1.5cm/.6in at its thickest point.

Rare Chinese gray nephrite carving of a recumbent water buffalo with damage, (please examine enlargements). This piece could possibly be much older as this kind of jade was quite popular from the Tang to Yuan therefore the Ming dating is a conservative estimate. I believe the face to be recarved (an old job) so it is difficult to date based on the style alone. The stone on this piece is very good with the striations in the stone being natural and not dyed as is commonly the case. L: 6cm/2.4i ...click for details

Good pair of circa Han Dynasty funereal pierced Nephrite jade tiles; these would have been part of a larger burial suit or veil- some calcification, inclusions and tiny chips. These would make excellent study pieces for someone wanting to gain insight into cutting techniques and natural aging in ancient Jade. D: L: 5.2cm/2in and W:2.2cm/o.9in (2mm thickness).
