$300.USD

Good Ming white nephrite pierced carving of a bird perched amongst trees and flowers. This piece has been broken and glued back together, ergo IMHO, the cheap price on this. Please see enlargements where this has been highlighted, also see last enlargements for references from: An Illustrated Handbook of Ancient Chinese Jadewares- Jadewares of the Yuan and Ming Dynasties. H: 6cm/2.3in and W:4.7cm/1.9in.

Interesting set of six amber glass beads. These came out of Cambodia but are of Chinese manufacture and would date circa Song to Yuan (1000-1400CE) which coincides to the Khmer Empire when there was a lot of trade was carried on between these two kingdoms. I have two references for this kind of bead referring to them as to either Liao or Ming. These probably have a more prosaic function being buttons, but having said this are the only ones I have seen and given their fragility few ha ...click for details

$160.USD

Good long rectangular aventurine bangle from early central Thai Bronze Age Lopburi Culture circa 500 BC. There is some damage on one end, well documented in enlargements. Aventurine is commonly mistaken for Jade as it has the same degree of hardness (6.5 Mohs scale rating). This is really a lovely stone and may be worn as a pendent (free fauxsilk macraméd cord included) The hole that runs the length of the bead is obstructed, either packed with dirt or unfinished but I am not go ...click for details

$320.USD

Ensemble of six Qing Dynasty red agate and carnelian pieces carved into babies, bats and a “foo” dog face. Originally these were meant to be sewn on clothing- possibly a woman's cap, now they are strung on a macraméd faux silk chord. tThe pieces tend to hang too close together in the center or may be worn as a choker- a possible remedy might be to insert a wire into the chord to stiffen it up a bit. Otherwise I am selling these as set, ideal for a bead or jewelry design ...click for details

Seven Qing Dynasty red agate and carnelian monkey pendants. These are strung on a macraméd faux silk chord, however they tend to hang too close together in the center, a possible remedy might be to insert a wire into the chord to stiffen it up a bit. Otherwise I am selling these as set, ideal for a bead or jewelry designer. The loose larger piece depicts a monkey on a leaf holding a peach (this one has a chip on the back), note scale in enlargements.

$250.USD

Lovely carved nephrite pendant with classic “cat on a leaf” motif. This piece has been re-carved to appear as the cat is sitting on a peapod (peapods being one of the myriad of Chinese symbols wishing one to have many children), but was really done to hide the damage on the sides of a larger leaf. This sill retains it’s essence of “kittyness” as she reposes languidly on the leaf. L: 7cm/2.8in.

$500.USD

Elegant lobed Chinese quartz crystal “pendant”. As crystal is impossible to date scientifically, based on style I will estimate this piece is no later than Ming Dynasty and possibly as early as Tang Dynasty. Ceramics from the classic kilns in this shape were most common during the Song however, it was also found on Tang sancai wares and some Ming metal work. A one of kind piece- the only one I have ever seen! It is in perfect undamaged condition with a few minor inclusions and cloudiness ...click for details

~Sold to the U.K., cheers~!$250.USD

Very rare Chinese glass vase with molded Han Dynasty hunting scene, taotie mask handles and hobnail pattern. This was represented to me as Republic Period, 1912-1949 but I am not sure, as references in English regarding this genre is non existent (as far as I know). This is certainly an old piece, having lived in Hong Kong for over 25 years this is the only one I have ever seen, so I will date this circa 1950s -1960s. Having said this it does resemble American Depression era glass in terms ...click for details

$470.USD

Rare incised decorative nephrite sword hilt from the Spring Autumn Period- 771-476 BCE. This piece is damaged so please examine enlargements carefully; of special note is the repair done on one side where a new piece of jade has been inserted and carved to match the original. This would make an excellent study piece to compare old techniques with the old. The lines in the new piece are lacking in strength and confidence that you find on an original piece, much like you would see on a forged ...click for details

~Sold to the U.S., thanks a bunch!~

Two very rare carved turquoise toggles, circa Ming Dynasty (this is a conservative dating). The larger one is in the shape of the “endless knot”- shrivasta, a typical Buddhist symbol and the smaller one is of a flower. Turquoise has been used in China since early times, circa Shang Dynasty but mostly for inlay on bronze or beads. These have two holes each drilled through them suggesting they may have had a utilitarian purpose to them, such as some sort of binding fastener. Please note scale in ...click for details

Two chalcedony pendants circa Warring States to Han Dynasty. I have been told by knowledgeable jade collectors these used as curtain weights; please see last enlargement for referenced dating to at least Han Dynasty from Sparkling Splendours: The Taoshi Zhai Collection. There are a couple of inclusions in the smaller white one and some deep staining on the larger one indicating that this was buried with a metallic object for quite sometime. Scale is in enlargement 6. Both pieces have holes ...click for details
