$220.USD

Rare and unusual Iban pottery pattern paddle carved from durable Iron Wood, circa 19th century. The pattern on this would be pressed into unfired clay pots to give it this design by the Iban people of Sarawak. This technique has been used since Neolithic times predating the pottery wheel, where pots were made by coiling “ropes” of clay into a shape and then using the paddle to press the coils together. The edge is rough at the bottom of the handle other than that this piece is in excel ...click for details

One of kind Cizhou type stoneware vase from a Northern Kiln circa 11th/12th CE, with amber brown glaze and large greenish splash running down the side. Conventional wisdom would suggest that this should be Jin Dynasty but the unusual glaze and the way the bottom sharply narrows at the base is atypical, so Xi Xia is a best guess on my part however the dating is guaranteed. Excellent original condition- H: 19.2cm/7.5in and D: 12cm/4.8in.

~Sold to New Zealnd, cheers~! $150.USD

Beautiful small vase with Jun glaze, as much as I’d like to believe I doubt if it is Song or Yuan, most likely Shekwan ware and possibly Republic. H: 18cm/7.1in and D: 8.5cm/3.3in. Whoever made this piece definitely mastered the ability to replicate the Jun glaze- I am not representing this as an antique but would recommend this for anyone who appreciates the finer things in life.

Exceptionally fine and rare classic “pea green” celadon glazed vase from the early Qing. The “brown wash” inside the footrim is typical of Qianlong and guaranteed to be of this period or earlier. Please observe the close up of the inside of the mouthrim to see the normal wear of copper rim which is a much softer substance than the porcelain glaze, I am not sure if this is a repair or the way it was originally made. If it is a repair it is a very old one, as I have not seen this type of work ...click for details

$270.USD

Song Dynasty white bowl from the Ding Yao kiln in Hebei. This is a classic piece from a much sought after kiln. This is possibly a kiln discard but has no warpage, cracks or chips. As noted in enlargements there is quite a bit of grit adhering to the foot and the center of the cavetto has some spots where more kiln grit appears to be ground out. This piece might be good candidate to send to a restorer to be repolished or just kept as is. A good opportunity for a collector on a budget to acquir ...click for details

Good small soy colored near black glazed bowl from a Northern kiln, possibly Shaanxi. The glaze compares favorably to similar pieces from Yaozhou. There is a chip under the rim noted in last enlargement. This piece has a good iron oxide metallic patina on the underside. D: 11.8cm/4in and H: 4cm/1.6in.

Lovely vintage cricket box with blue underglaze Chinese landscape pattern. This was made in Jingdezhen in the 1970s/1980’s, emulating the Kangxi reign with apocryphal reign mark and wide unglazed footrim and inner rim. Please note last enlargement to compare to item #7003, these are fairly identical except for this one having a lighter cobalt blue (it’s all a matter of taste), probably more valuable as a pair than individually but will sell either way. H: 11.8cm/4.5in and D: 10.3cm/4.1in. ...click for details

$260.USD

Good 12th century Song/Jin Dynasty dark brown Cizhou type bowl most likely from a Henan kiln. This has been dipped in a russet colored and again in a near black one. The surface has a pleasing iron oxide paraffin patina. There is one chip that has been repaired with original small shards easily seen enlargements; the foot rim is quite crisp and relatively thin for a bowl of this type. D: 16cm/6.2in and H: 6.8cm/2.8in.

Exceptionally fine and rare classic Cizhou Yuan Dynasty (1279-1324CE) wine bottle with “combed” lugs. This ceramic is covered with a white slip, brown iron oxide decorative bands and abstract splashes and completely dipped with a thin clear glaze. There is a surface body frit caused by a bubble underneath and minor firing crack on the side- noted in enlargements. The colors on this piece are quite vivid for the period. H: 27cm/10.6in and D: 15.5cm/6.1.

$150.

Good black stoneware jar from a Southern Kiln. I have some references that might indicate this is from a Guangdong Kiln i.e., Xicun or Bijiashan, but they are old black and white photos which makes a positive identification difficult. Individual elements on this piece remind me of few more classic glazes like Jianyao or Jizhou, and the style could be anywhere between Tang to Northern Song so I will split the difference and describe it as 5 Dynasties. There is no damage to the body but has fr ...click for details
