Yao Shaman’s stamp

stock number: 2167

price: $200.USD

description: Three old Dao Gong priest’s wooden stamps representing Pan Hung (Dragon dog) who is considered to be the ancestor of the Yao/Mien ethnic group from Guangxi, Lao or Vietnam. These items are carved from wood, the larger one has a Chinese characters on the shoulder (which I assume was the owner’s name) and the one with a Tiger’s face has the Chinese character “wang”, meaning king carved into forehead. These were passed over paintings and religious books during ceremonies by the Yao/Mien priest. Old and authentic Yao shaman’s paraphernalia have become nearly impossible to find these days, please view enlargements to view damages and condition. These are quite old circa 90 years. Dimensions: note scale is metric.
