Fine and rare classical old Cambodian silk lower garment, approximately 70 to 100 years old. This piece may be worn either by men or women. It was originally sewn together and stepped into like a sarong skirt however it was given one fold in the front and then twisted from the bottom and pulled between the legs and tucked in the front and secured to the waist with a silk sash or belt to form a pantaloon type garment The frog pattern is very rare and the only one of I have yet to see. Overall this piece is in excellent condition with a couple of minor repairs and pinholes as to be expected by an old piece. A piece of this quality textile would have only been worn by a wealthy upper class Cambodian family of the period. Trying to photograph a piece this is fairly problematic given it’s large size- so please view enlargements to appreciate its true beauty. The feel to the fabric is very supple and smooth as is only found in old silk textiles. This weighs 230 grams/8ozs. L:3.16m/10.5ft and H: 93cm/3ft.
