description: Devi Lhamo is the only female Dharmapala in the Tantric Buddhist pantheon. She is also regarded as the “protector” of the Dali Lama. This large Thangka is a very unusual depiction of Devi Lhamo not only in the artistic interpretation of her mount but also the proportionately large area she occupies on the canvas. This Thanka is late 19th century to early 20th century and is guaranteed to a minimum of at least 80 years in age. Condition as shown. There is a small discolored area in the upper left hand corner and a few wrinkles where the painting has come off. Dimensions: 77.5cm/30.5 in x 60.5cm/23.8in.
