description: Incised floral patterned headrest from Song Dynasty Cizhou pillow. This does not appear to be a kiln discard as the surface shows normal fine scratching that is indicative of use. The reverse side also reveals that it was meticulously removed from a larger most lkely broken body. Other than the fact that the base is missing the piece is perfect and has the finest Cizhou glaze I have ever laid eyes. Condition as described. Dimensions: 20cm/7.8in width and 19.2cm/7.5in height. Included is a museum quality Perspex stand.
