Very fine Ming celadon bowl from the Zhejiang Longquan kilns. From a glaze point of view this is one of the best pieces I have ever seen, the color is even throughout and the shape perfectly balanced. There is one repair under the lip of the mouthrim, most likely covering a very shallow chip as well as some surface “crazing” on the glaze which is normal and to be expected in Longquan ware- these may be noted in the enlargements, also one very small firing crack under the glaze. There is a faint incised floral medallion in the center, although subtle is not obscured by scratches, as is so often the case with Ming celadon bowls. D: 18.8cm/7in and H: 8.3cm/3.3in.
