Tang White Jar with Suffused Glazed
Extremely rare large light gray stoneware jar with cream-colored glaze with black splashes and traces of Jun type blue phosphatic color from a Henan kiln, Tang Dynasty. This item has been extensively repaired. When I first acquired it had been broken in two pieces with a few other cracks and had been sloppily put back together using epoxy so earlier this year I took it to Sukhothai, Thailand where people can do credible restorations which was done to good effect. As far as I can tell except for an approximately 5cm x 3cm large rim chip all pieces are original. Restored areas may be best noted as having a “crusty” look to the surface. H: 24cm/9.5in and D: 27cm/10.6in.
