Very early and rare Lao bronze Buddha circa 13th to 14th CE. The wide lap on this image is typical of post Khmer Buddhas on which the earliest Lao Buddhist art drew inspiration. The face is exceptionally sweet on this piece which in my opinion sets Lao Buddhas apart from other regional styles. The base is missing as well as having some holes in the body (please observe enlargements). In the true Buddhist spirit of equanimity this image exudes a feeling of inner happiness, oblivious to the decay that surrounds him. Width at base 8.5cm/3.4in and height is 10.5cm/4.2in height including stand is 13.5cm/5.3in
