Fine old burl wood Tibetan bowl for drinking yak butter tea, lined with silver and silver rimmed base, circa 19th century or earlier. Nowadays these are used for only special festive occasions and Buddhist ceremonies. The wood has a beautiful deep patina and the silver will polish up very nicely. There are quite a few small dents in the silver liner which is to be expected from an old item used by a nomadic people. The rim has been glued back on but it is the original. D: 14cm/5.5in and H: 6cm/2.3in.
