Northern Song blackware jar with white mouthrim
For the connoisseur of simple black stonewares, a very fine and rare Cizhou type black jar with off-white glazed mouthrim, interior and unglazed foot rim. A very uncommon piece, as it is the first I have encountered and unusual in that the mouthrim and inside glaze is opaque and rather thick (very often a translucent slip is used to achieve this effect). Excellent original condition with no damage just few tiny areas where the glaze did not adhere on the mouthrim and a bubble burst on the foot rim during firing. Northern Song to Jin Dynasty. H:8.8cm/3.5in and D:11.3cm/4.4in.
