Early Qing celadon glazed porcelain vase
stock number: 1288
price: $1200.USD/$9300.HKD
description:
Very fine and rare celadon glazed vase/jar from the early Qing. One knowledgeable friend has suggested that it might even Shunzhi, however Kangxi to Qianlong seems more plausible and I will guarantee this to be from no later than 18th century. The copper rim is original and not a repair, most likely added on before it was fired. Please observe the close up of the inside of the mouthrim to see the normal wear of copper rim which is actually a much softer substance than the porcelain glaze. There are some traces of old wax inside the mouthrim as well, suggesting that this may have been meant to be a wine jar that had a wooden and cloth traditional Chinese “cork”. In perfect original condition! H: 28.7cm/11.2in and D: 17cm/6.7in. Since the photos to don't really do this piece justice please see last enlargement for the most accurately depicted color of the glaze.
