Early Qing statue of an official
stock number: 1643
price: $2400.USD/$18,000.HKD
description:
Fine early Qing, circa 17th to early 18th century carved wooden statue of an official with an elephant beneath his feet. The well proportioned face has inset glass eyes and traces of a horse hair beard which gives it a very lifelike appearance. There one old repair noted in enlargements and the elephants tusks have broken off. This piece is quite large and would make a dramatic center piece for any living room with an Asian theme. The packed weight is less than 20 kg so it should be able to be sent via HK SpeedPost to most destinations. This piece could be greatly improved by applying some wood seal and lightly covered in a thinned out coating of French lacquer or varnish, (really this is a matter of personal taste). H: 109cm/47in and W: 29cm/11.5 in.
