Lovely old traditional Bhutanese woman’s dress circa 50 years plus. This is a very refined weave with all the narrow stripes being made of silk and the wider bands of having a cotton warp and inner “sechu”silk embellished pattern which gives it a three dimensional feel. The colors are very soft and pastel and most likely natural. One side of the selvedge has some minor fraying which is where it probably dragged the ground and got the most wear as well as few pinholes. The inside of this garment has retained more of its color so I have folded it over to compare in the last enlargement. Photographing such large textiles is always challenging (which is probably why 90% of my actual collection is not yet listed) so please observe the enlargements to appreciate the beauty of this fine piece. W: 1.34m/53in and L: 2.24m/88in.
