Exceptionally rare Tang bowl/cup with a wide everted mouthrim- the glaze is an off white creamy color, highly vitrified and quite thick for a Tang ware. This piece compares favorably with some of the Tang “xing” wares in He Li’s Chinese Ceramics New Standard Guide although there is some atypical broad cracalature near the mouthrim. There is one long crack, and two chips as well as major pitting on the unglazed foot, all may be noted in the enlargements. Even with the obvious damage this piece is superb in its shape and glaze. D: 11.8cm/4.6in and H: 6.8cm/2.8in.
