Exceptionally fine and rare Cizhou type, black glazed bowl with striking iron brown partridge feather splashes. Perfect original condition with no chips, cracks or repairs it is thinly potted and high fired with a porcelaneous ring when tapped. An outstanding piece; the pattern really draws the viewer into the center, like a Jackson Pollack painting the splashes exude a random vigor that can only be accomplished by a master of their craft. Northern Song to Jin Dynasty. D: 14cm/5.5in and H: 6.cm/2.2in.
