Annapurna
stock number: 1955
price: $320./$2400.HKD
description:
This Goddess is missing one hand and part of the item she is holding in the other hand of what I believe to be a ladle, ergo my attribution. Annapurna is the Goddess of the hearth and food (as well a whacking big mountain range named after her). She sits holding a ladle with which she feeds the world, with an unlimited amount of food. She is an incarnation of Parvati, the wife of Shiva. Annapurna symbolizes the divine aspect of nourishing care. This item predates the 18th century and appears to have been rather rudely ripped off an altar ensemble judging by the damage to the base. H: 7cm/2.8in and W: 4cm/1.8in.
