description: Late 19th ce/ Early 20th ce wood handled adz with hand forged blade. This item was made by the Minankabau people and sourced in the village of Bukittingi in the highlands of Sumatra in 1989. The handle is well polished through years of use with quite stunning bands of carved decoration on the handle. Condition good the only damage is some “checking” in the wood near the base of the handle. Handle length 43 cm, blade length 16.4.
