| Chinese steel single piece constructed saber or Dadao with ring pommel and separately forged hilt circa Qing Dynasty. There are two pieces of wood or bamboo on the handle which have been wrapped with a strip of hand spun cotton for better gripping. Aside from a small nick on the cutting edge in perfect condition, there is of course some pitting as to be expected from an old weapon but little rust. It still has a serviceable cutting edge and could be honed razor sharp but bear in mind the power of this weapon comes from its weight and would be use as much for bashing as slicing.
