Lovely carved nephrite pendant with classic “cat on a leaf” motif. This piece has been re-carved to appear as the cat is sitting on a peapod (peapods being one of the myriad of Chinese symbols wishing one to have many children), but was really done to hide the damage on the sides of a larger leaf. Anyway I think it works quite well- I was offered two of these at the same price but chose the altered one simply because it looked more elegant and I liked the carving of the cat better. L: 7cm/2.8in.
