description: Li Woman’s Blouse and Skirt Ensemble. The Li people are only found on Hainan Island, China. The handmade cotton cloth on the blouse is new although the embroidered panels on the sleeve trims and lower side panels appear to be much older The zoomorphic “Naga” patterns are unique to the Li amongst the Hill People of Southern China. The skirt is comprised of three separately woven and embroidered bands, which have been finely stitched together. It is of interest to note on the skirt although the patterns on the skirt appears to be woven on they are actually embroidered on one side only, another feature unique to Li textiles. Condition perfect. Age late 20th century. This piece is ideal for the specialist collector. Blouse dimensions are: sleeve to sleeve109cm/43in and 61cm/24in shoulder to bottom. Skirt dimensions are: waist 72cm/28in x 32cm/12.5in length.*Please note: The reds in the photographs are not as bright as they appear in real life.
