description: Afghan Rug from Herat. Lovely earth toned rug, all wool and natural dyes. Approximately 30 years old. Condition good. Dimensions: 188cm/74in x 103cm/43in.
Carpet Notes: Most of the rugs listed are items of tribal art and not to be confused with
classic rugs, such as Silk Persians, therefore, we do not count knots. A carpet’s durability is determined by the quality of the materials used. These rugs are hand woven in the villages and tribal areas of Afghanistan and Iran and are not Pakistani factory productions. For the most part these rugs have been chosen for their unique design, high standard of wool and use of natural dyes. All these rugs were sourced in the Khyber Bazaar in Peshawar, Pakistan in the NorthWest Frontier Area. The most realistic way to describe these are as “oldish” most are between 20 and 40 years.
