Unusual pottery bowl with hand molded snake handle. This came out of China and has a good petrichor and water absorption on the base, circa 2000-1000BCE. 14cm/5.5in and H: 12cm/4.7in.

Classic celadon Yueyao glazed bowl from Zhejiang, 5 Dynasties period, circa 907 to 979CE. Unglazed circle at the bottom of the cavetto is where another bowl was stacked while being fired. There are couple of very small firing hairlines and tiny chips on the rim, otherwise good condition for an 1100 year old ceramic. D: 15cm/5.9in and H: 5.8cm/2.2in.

Lovely pottery small lead glazed stove from the Eastern Han Dynasty (202 BCE – 220 CE). Minor fritting and a couple of chips on the upper corners, but overall, in very good condition for a two thousand year old piece. There are still random traces of the silver patina on the surface. I scraped off a small section the surface layer and a beautiful silver patina is revealed (see enlargement #5), up to the buyer of they want to clean the whole piece. Beautiful “Cizhou” type black storage jug with lugs probably used for preserved vegetables, circa Ming Dynasty. A very attractive piece with lovely contrasting black and russet glazes, and paraffin patina throughout. Good example what would have been used in an ancient Chinese kitchen. Perfect condition, except for one very small glaze chip inside the mouthrim, noted in last enragement. H: 18.5cm/7.2in and D: 18cm/7.1in.

Beautiful image of Tang Dyansty noble woman or lady-in-waiting. Good condition no damage or repair. She is standing in relaxed natural pose, with a sweet face and complicated to coiled double chignon. H: 27cm/10.6in.

Pair of Song Dynasty soy brown, Jian type bowls from the Dongzhang/Minho kiln in Fujian, recovered from the Lianjiang shipwreck. Good condition, no damage or repairs, there is some original kiln grit in the cavetto and a minor irregularity on the rim of one. D: 10cm/4in and H: 4.5cm/1.8in. May still be used in a tea ceremony.

Special Offer: Two Ming porcelains- 1# Simple Ming bowl with impressionist depiction of a cobalt blue underglaze vase with flowers. Perfect original condition, with a classic Ming Period “Bi” shaped footrim. There is one small unglazed spot on the edge of the bottom of the rim, this not a chip. D: 9.1cm/3.6in and H: 3cm/1.2in. 2# Lovely small Ming, blue and white jar, very thinly potted with simple floral scroll pattern. Perfect condition, H: 7.4cm/2.9in and D: 6.2cm/2.5in.

Good black glazed with large swathes of russet jug circa Ming Dynasty bottle with two lugs. There are a few chips on the lower edge of mouth. This kind of ware was the “coke bottle” of their day, common place household/kitchen items, almost every home would have a few. No reason (after a good cleaning and sanitation) you couldn’t reuse for your favorite poteen, bai jiu or single malt. H: 21cm/8.2in and D: 14.5cm/5.8in.

Very good Han Dynasty heavy spinach green lead glazed jar with zoomorphic impressed band at the top. Excellent condition, small unglazed spot near mouthrim- please examine enlargements. D: 14cm/5.5in and H: 11.5cm/4.8in.

Rare 4.9cm/1.9in Thai green glazed stoneware bowl from the Sankampaeng kiln circa 15th/16th CE with two fish in the center and scalloped cavetto, there is well done repaired chip on the inner rim noted last enlargement. This is a classic and definitive piece for the Sankampaeng kiln as the incised/impressed fish motif is only found on ceramics from this Thai kiln. There are some blue flambé highlights in the center, probably accidental but quite attractive. D: 21.5cm/8.2in and H: ...

This came out of China and has a good petrichor and water absorption on the base, very old- at least 2000 to 3000 years old but probably older. W: 14cm/5.5in and H: 12cm/4.7in.

Special offer: 4 Tang Dynasty terra cotta statues, all have had repair i.e. heads glued back on- (two are not the original heads). The amber glazed figure has the original sancai glaze though not very shiny. Dimensions note in enlargement text.

200.00 Large pale green glazed plate with incised decoration, most likely fired at the Thantwe kiln near present day Rangoon, Burma. Excavated from the Tak Burial site near, Mae Sot along the Thai/Burmese border. This can be reliably dated to least 14th/16th centuries due to other known and datable ceramics from China and Thailand that were found in the same strata. Good porcelain quality Qingbai bowl from Jingdezhen with classic sea green colored glaze and sugar like clay body. There is an internal firing hairline crack noted midway in the cavetto noted in enlargements- still has a clear bell like tone when tapped. . There are remnants of an original metal rim fused on the mouth rim. D: 16cm/6.2in and H: 5.9cm/2.2in.

Quirky Cizhou type, heavy, completely black glazed, waisted beaker from circa Ming Dynasty. Possibly this was used in a Chinese Apothecary, but this is just a best guess to its function. The hole on the bottom was made prior to firing and is part of the original design. Lovely thick glaze and aside from a couple of chips on the outside of the foot, in very good condition. H: 13cm/5.1in- width at base : 8.7cm/3.8in and width at mouthrim : 11cm/4.3in.

Fine pair of black temmoku bowls with russet rims and traces of silver leaf patterns. Both are in excellent condition. D: 9.1cm x H: 3.9cm. Suitable for tea ceremonies. These are about 90% correct for being of the Song period, but the lack of excavation traces and inside the foot rim being to level and flat throws doubt on this, also the patterns are usually seen on Wuyi Shan Kiln pieces and not in Jianyang.
