Buddhist grey pottery “lotus petal” offering jar circa 1200/1300CE with Chinese Zodiac, human figures and vajra impressed pattern. Excellent condition, no damage. Rare (one of a kind), semi antique basket from the Naxi/Nakhi ethnic group in Yunnan province. I purchased this in 2001 at local market in Lijiang (now a UNESCO heritage site). Constructed of bamboo with much of lacquer intact, this piece is circa 50 to 80 years old, most interesting is an auspicious coin symbol woven into the top. This kind of thing always reminds of the labor intensiveness that is put in to decorating such a humble object. I have traveled to Yunnan several times ...

Special Offer: Very fine supplementary silk weft embroidered two paneled wedding blanket, from the Maonan ethnic group (Guangxi/Guizhou province) circa later first half 20th century. This foundation is woven from all and spun local cotton and silk floss thread. This has an unusually wide central band with eccentric “wanzi” swastika meander and six pointed star design, also there are natural dyed upper and lower cotton margins -the first time I have ever seen on a Maonan piece. The pa...

Glass charm emulating white nephrite Jade inscribed with delicate Arabic verses from the Koran on both sides. This set is in silver with a copper loop to hold on a chord. I bought this in Hong Kong so original provenance is unknown- possibly from the Xinjiang, Turkic Uyghur speaking area. Jade was very popular during the Mughal period in India and I would date this piece circa 19th century. Excellent condition- no chips or cracks. L 5.3cm/2.1in and W: 3.4cm/1.3in. Free shipping.

Early People’s Republic of China molded, green glass vase (emulating celadon jade) and in the style of a Han Dynasty Hu, circa 1960 to 1970. Although millions of decorative items were produced during this period very little has survived to this day, especially anything made of glass. This piece is “as new” condition, with the original label, no damage whatsoever. Today it is easier to find original Han Hu then one of these. H: 28cm/11in and D: 20cm/7.9in.

Quirky Cizhou type, heavy, completely black glazed, waisted beaker from the Ming. I am guessing that was used in a Chinese Apothecary, but this is just a best guess to its function. This has original hole in the bottom and not recently drilled. Lovely thick glaze and aside from a couple of chips on the outside of the foot, in very good condtion. H: 13cm/5.1in- width at base : 8.7cm/3.8in and width at mouthrim : 11cm/4.3in.

Good monkey khik carved from wood, contrary to how I see these often advertised they, have little to do with attracting women, but are worn by on the side by men for luck and prosperity or used by women to ward odd “evil men” and attract money. The symbolism goes way back to Hindu mythology where the Shiva lingam represents primordial creative energy and the Monkey God Hanuman embodies courage and devotion. L: 5cm/2in. Unlike the cast metal types, this is a one off item, hand car...
