Ensemble of six Qing Dynasty red agate and carnelian pieces carved into babies, bats and a “foo” dog face. Originally these were meant to be sewn on clothing- possibly a woman's cap, now they are strung on a macraméd faux silk chord. tThe pieces tend to hang too close together in the center or may be worn as a choker- a possible remedy might be to insert a wire into the chord to stiffen it up a bit...

Rare Buddhist votive terra cotta plaque, circa 10th, or earlier. Very interesting iconography with the Buddha seated on a lotus supported by two Brahma (Nandi) bulls and central Ganesha head. So far I have not found any references to similar piece, so this could be a one of a kind...

Ensemble of very old beads, I found these in a small shop in Phrae, Northeast Thailand a few years ago. The green mottled beads are late Qing Dynasty Peking glass, the brown glass tapered tube bead emulating agate was probably made for the Funan or Chenla Kingdoms as I have agate beads from the same period which are pretty much identical, the white bead with orange splash is at least early Qing...

Good strand of quartz crystal beads (and a few carnelians) excavated from the Tak Burial site near. Mae Sot along the Thai/Burmese border. These can be reliable dated to least 14th/16th centuries due to known and datable ceramics that were found in the same strata, but having said these can be much older as stone beads and have been traded in the region for at least 2000 years. L: 55cm/21.5 in. Weight 180 grams. See enlargements for scale and condition...

Very old Chinese rug woven in Beijing/Tianjin, circa late 19th to early 20th century, with abstract archaic foliate border and ten floral sprays on the field with a bit of repair and frayed edges- still quite usable and pretty with soft lustrous wool. L: 208cm/82in and W: 118cm/51in.

Unusual “pile” of old glass cylinder beads picked up in Mae Sot, Thailand along the Burmese border about 6 years ago and are from Burma. These were meant for Victorian Era, British colonials who most likely used them for beaded curtains. I assuming these are of Bohemian, Czech (possibly Japanese) manufacture but am certain that they are old- circa late 19th/early 20th century. There are 20 strands with around 20 8cm beads per strand and total length of 1.75cm/5ft9in ea, so about 400 beads...

Genuine antique Shan lacquer box circa late 19thCE. Most Burmese lacquer being offered on the internet purported to be antique are vintage at best and new at worst. I acquired this in Yunnan, China along the Burmese border but of Shan (nationality in China). Although there is some damage the craftsmanship is exquisite which is why I put a grain of sand in a couple of the images to put the work into perspective...

Lovely Chinese basket most likely woven by the Zhuang or another of the many ethnic minorities in Guangxi Zhuang, China where I bought this over 20 years ago. This woven from split reed stalks and has a nice soft feel to it. This piece is quite old, 50 to 100 years (best guess). It has an unusual trapezoidal/oval shape and I like it for its sturdy simplicity. Minor unraveling of some of the weaves here and there but in very good condition given it age...

Ensemble of three Nepali butter churning stick holders from Nepali hill minorities. Nice worn patina, circa 60 to 90 years old, the one on the right appears to be older. No kitchen should be without these! The large one has a crack at the end, see last enlargement for scale.

Rare silk Cambodian ikat lower garment L: 288cm/113.in and W: 90cm/35.5in with twill weave; unique to Khmer textiles. This skill died out during the reign of the Khmer Rouge and has not yet recovered the skills and technique to make a textile of this quality. The size of this piece indicates it would have been worn by an upper class family much like a pantaloon with center being passed through the legs and tucked into the waist...

Old (100 years or more) leather belt from Tibet with 5 damascened silver patterns on iron fittings with complete buckle. There is some rust on the metal bits, maybe some Silvo polish on them will bring some of the shine back to the silver. All the pieces seem to be here except for a scabbard attachment. Total L: 118cm/46.5in. I bought this the Barkor bazaar in front of the Jokang in Lhasa almost 20 years ago; the leather is rough but serviceable.

Nice old Tibetan rug with wool warp and weft. The knots are quite big which gives a pleasant folksy feel. There is one hole and a small tear on the side (noted in enlargements), the colors are muted and pastel, I am guessing this has a combination of aniline and natural dyes and would date this to late 19th/early 20th century. L: 148cm/58in and W: 87cm/34in.
