Exceptionally rare, handled drinking vessel from the Liao (Khitan) people, circa 907 CE to 1279 CE. There are very few Liao pottery pieces in collections today so this piece would of interest to anyone specializing in this period. Please note last enlargement for reference of a similarly shaped gilt silver piece dating form this period. This particular type of jar shows a much closer affinity with Central Asian cultures than the Han. There are two filled chips and crack on the hand...

Stunning bronze sword handle from the Dian Kingdom that paralleled the Han Dynasty. Judging from the heavy triangular pommels and spikes near the blade, these were designed for close quarter combat that would look right at home in a fight scene out of Game of Thrones. This has a classic azurite patina with traces of the original iron blades. The Dian were a fierce and independent kingdom living in the vicinity of Dianchi Lake in Yunnan Province which chronologically paralleled the Wa...

Pair of Large Liao Dynasty, dark amber glazed Gangwa ware jars from the Chifeng Kiln, Inner Mongolia. The Liao were a non Han culture that ruled in Manchuria and parts of Mongolia 907-1125 CE. This shape is fairly unique to Liao ceramics as it seeks to emulate Turkic West Asian metal work drinking vessels. Early 19th century lacquer box from the Gadu-Gadan region with domed top and bottom (philone gaunglone). There are 16 separate panels decorated with mythical beasts, dancers and quirky symbols on the side and bird pattern on the top and bottom. Please note last photo for reference which is dated 1850 (possibly earlier) from Lacquerware Journeys—Than Htun. The piece I have is actually far more intricate. It is extremely rare to see a piece of Burmese lacquer of this age outside of...

Very fine polished shouldered stone axe from the late Neolithic Period, found in Nan Province Thailand near the Lao Border. I acquired a collection of these a couple of years ago and have been holding this one back since was the best of the lot. The stone is very hard and cannot be scratched on the polished surface with stainless steel and is in excellent condition with only a couple chips, still serviceable cutting edge. This piece feels good in the hand and is incredibly thin given the ...
