Good circa late Republic to Early PROC, bell shaped inkstone with poem by the Tang Poet, Zhang Ji inscribed on the back. "The old moon is going down/ And the crows make a ruckus/ The world is covered with frost/ There are maples on the riverbank/ And the lights of fishing boats/ Drift with the current/ I fall into a sad sleep/ from the monastery on Cold Mountain/The sound of the bell/ Reaches the guest boat at midnight." The calligraphy is quite good on this and the stone is still quite serviceable for calligraphy and painting. The larger characters translate “Suzhou Old Hanshan Temple. L: 18cm/7.1in, W: (at bottom) 12.8cm/5in, and thickness: 1.8cm/0.7in. Good condition.
