Stunning traditional scroll painting of a tiger descending mountain. Actual painting size is H: 105cm/41in x W: 40cm/15.5in - mounted dimensions are H: 190cm/74in x W: 50cm/19.5in. Signed Zhang Shanzi 張善孖 but this is probably apocryphal. He was famous for his painting of tigers- based on the quality of the scroll haning screws, this was probably done in the 50s or 60s. Free shipping.
The poem translates as follows:
“The cliffs are hundreds of feet high and the green is majestic.
The new bamboos on the rocks are bright
The mountain birds don't come and the wind is still
Suddenly I heard two or three cries of a hungry tiger
Summer in year of goat 1931”
