Nice old Cambodian “siri” box. This piece predates the Khmer Rouge regime and circa 60 or 70 years old. In good condition, there is no significant damage other expected signs of use and wear. In recent years Khmer lacquerware is making a comeback, however most of this is used for “home décor” export items, as far as I know no one is currently resurrected items for common household use. D: 25cm/9.9in and W: 12cm/4.8in.

Rare silk Cambodian ikat lower garment L: 288cm/113.in and W: 90cm/35.5in with twill weave; unique to Khmer textiles. This skill died out during the reign of the Khmer Rouge and has not yet recovered the skills and technique to make a textile of this quality. The size of this piece indicates it would have been worn by an upper class family much like a pantaloon with center being passed through the legs and tucked into the waist...

They have a quirky abstract quality to them, their facelessness represents that the individual is inconsequential but has the potential for becoming a Buddha, on the bottom are the eight Burmese zodiac symbols based on the days of the week...

Fabulous signed old men’s blanket from the Biboki region, West Timor. The writing is different from the center then it is from the ends so perhaps, this is a dedication or blessing rather than a signature. W: 114cm/44.8in and L: 186cm/73in, except for the yellow and blue lines this is woven from all naturally dyed handspun thread. Dating circa 1950 to 1960.

80.00 Quirky big round ball of green glass; possibly sand cast- this would have been used to make a Buddha image, from Lanna culture, Northern Thailand. In the 1950s the Japanese started exporting mold cast glass images to Thailand and Laos so this practice died out around then. There is a Buddha in there waiting to be realized. Looks like one of moons of Jupiter. Weight 210grams D: 5.5cm/2.2in.
