Very rare (no one I know has seen one before), silver amulet with a rat (definitely not a mouse). 2020 is the Chinese Lunar Calendar for the Metal Rat so this being a silver piece represents a full 60 year lunar cyclical completion this year. In Chinese society the Rat is considered clever, cultured, shrewd and intelligent although a bit manipulative (Mark Zuckerberg is a Rat). The reverse side wishes the owner “May you live 100 years”...

Lovely carved nephrite pendant with classic “cat on a leaf” motif. This piece has been re-carved to appear as the cat is sitting on a peapod (peapods being one of the myriad of Chinese symbols wishing one to have many children), but was really done to hide the damage on the sides of a larger leaf. This sill retains it’s essence of “kittyness” as she reposes languidly on the leaf. L: 7cm/2.8in.

Rare silver hairpin with rolled end, longevity character roundel on the head and traces of gilding. There is a repair noted enlargements. Heavy azurite crust on surface (was probably interred with bronze artifacts). Note: My Ming dating is very much on the conservative side- possibly much older.12cm/4.9in

Quirky SouLou longevity hat or clothing ornament from the Ming Dynasty. A simple little jade man, carved from Chinese nephrite jade. H: 3.1cm x W: 1.7cm. I am used to seeing these clothing ornaments in Jadeite dating from the Qing, but this is the first one I have found this early. There is one tiny chip on the lower right corner and some natural calcification in the stone as is typical with ancient Nephrite. Free shipping via Hong Kong Registered Airmail.

Great patina with intricate designs consisting of double dorjes, various flowers and seal script Chinese characters- the silver band at the top is new and the piece is circa 90 -110 years old. Antique Chinese “lucky charm” with a bat holding a sign (almost like a Chinese pawn shop), the side in enlargement one means to have success getting a job in the civil service and the other side translates “Amitabha” Buddha. Civil service jobs were always highly desirable in old Chinese culture as they had prestige and power. This is circa Qing Dynasty and high quality silver with very detailed workmanship especially with stippling in the chasing...
