Classic Song Dynasty Qingbai, porcelaneous conical bowl from the Jingdezhen kiln (probably Hutian Yao) with graceful incised abstract floral pattern in cavetto. This has one stress crack noted in enlargements but still has bell like ring when tapped. The close ups most accurately portray the color of this piece. D:13.6cm/5.3in and H: 5.1cm/2in.

Good circa early 20th century blue rug with bogu pattern, i.e. displaying antique auspicious items. This has a classic Batou color scheme consisting of all blue colors. The center medallion and vases seem to be abstract Chinese seal calligraphy. Good condition but very slightly tatty on one head end- note last enlargement. W: 69cm/27in and W: 135cm/53in.

Exceptionally rare, grey pottery, recumbent tiger, circa Han Dynasty. So far this is the only one I have ever seen, outside of a book. This piece is in excellent condition, no damage with traces of original white pigments. Rather than a depicting the tiger as some ferocious predator it portrays it with a friendly expression. L: 25cm/9.8in and W: (midpoint) 8cm/3.1in.

Good Tang Dynasty gray clay brick depicting “Atlas” type figure seated on a lotus blossom I was in Taxila once and saw similar figures which to my mind illustrates the Greco/Roman influence in Tang art. The lotus shows indicates an obvious Buddhist connection. This is painted with “stucco”, and in good condition with no damage. W: 14.5cm/5.8in and H: 17.7cm/7in.

Quirky Cizhou type, heavy, completely black glazed, waisted beaker from the Ming/Qing Dynasty. I am guessing that was used in a Chinese Apothecary, but this is just a best guess to its function. There is an intentionally drilled hole in the base (no it is not a TL test), which I can fill on request. Lovely thick glaze and aside from a couple of chips on the outside of the foot, in very good condtion. H: 13cm/5.1in- width at base : 8.7cm/3.8in and width at mouthrim : 11cm/4.3in.

Song Dynasty Jun ware brush shaper or brushwasher. This was originally the base of flower vase which was later reworked into a scholar’s object. The brown clay indicates this was fired in Henan and in my opinion is representative of the kind that was acquired for the Imperial Qing collection rather then the more typical bowls and saucers. The top surface has more discoloration and minor scratches which indicates, that the repurposing was done some time ago...

Must love cats! Charming Cizhou style ceramic pillow as a cat, circa late Qing to Republic period in perfect condition! Great expression- captures the way a cat can gaze so intently at something while appearing calm- as if it is about to pounce on an unsuspecting prey. Rare high fired gray, hand sculpted relief, pottery wall tile- circa Song/Jin Dynasty depicting two mounted elephants engaged in battle. This has the original red, green and white pigments, which are still quite vivid after almost 1000 years. This is most likely from Shanxi Province. The depiction of “war elephants” is quite unusual, in that as far as I know, they were never used in China although some Southeast Asian kingdoms and India used them...

Rare antique bear’s teeth used by the Yao/Mien ethnic group in Guangxi Zhuang, China, Vietnam, Thailand and Laos during in Daoist ceremonies by Dao Guang priests. These would have had bells attached to them were used to “call in the spirits”. An example may be seen in Jess Pourret’s book: The Yao, plate 570, pg 207. These are all very old, and not from a bile farm (in case you were wondering). Dimensions in enlargements

Good Tang Dynasty straw colored pottery camel with original white pigment. This piece has been repaired at the body, neck and legs (as most always are). There was layer of mud put on this to hide the repair and I have removed as a much as possible just so you know it’s there but is not glaringly obvious. Nice size, this animal embodies the spirit of the ancient “Silk Road”, if not Xi Jin Ping’s “One Belt One Road Initiative”. H: 32.5cm/12.8in and L: 28cm/11in
