A charming brushwasher in the shape of reclining scholar circa Ming/Qing Dynasty. Excellent condition- no cracks, chips etc. W: 10.4cm/4.2in and H: 10cm/4in. This has a primary cream colored base glaze with highlights in ocher and soy brown. A very rare little item. Please note that the smudges on the bottom of the piece were caused by the potter holding it with his fingers when dipping into the glaze.

Lovely pair of embroidered quatrefoil round panels, circa first half of 20th century. The stitching is in excellent condition but some discoloration on the edges. Diameter 20cm/8in.

Good Qing Dynasty blue and white, porcelain censer with with three floral patterns (each one different) and lion face feet. There are two fine hairline cracks running off the rim noted in the last enlargement. Nice size W: 18cm7in and H: 8.8cm/3.4in.

Beautiful late Qing sea green celadon porcelain Ding shaped censer. There are areas at the bottom of each foot where the glaze came off, presumably when getting pulled from the kiln. Otherwise pristine condition. H: 7.5cm/3in and D: 12cm/4.5in.

Ming jar with blue underglaze chrysanthemum no damage but there are firing flaws in the glaze- please see enlargements. This was fired in Guangdong Province - locally, this type is referred to as a “gunpowder” jar although, I don’t know if this was it what it was really used for. H: 13.5cm/5.2in and D: 17.cm/6.8 in.

Pair of lovely light turquoise pastel blue Qingbai glazed jars with lotus leaf shaped lids circa 1200 CE, which would put them on the cusp of Southern Song/Yuan Dynasties. The lids have been restored- so please see enlargements, jars are in good condition with no damage. H: 16.5cm/6.5in and D: 12cm/4.8in.

Song Dynasty light green glazed stoneware bowl from a Fujian- Minnan or Putian kiln. This bowl has an elegant deeply incised abstract foliate pattern, and everted notched rim Good original condition- some kiln grit and a firing crack at the bottom of cavetto, has bell like tone when tapped. D: 17cm/6.8in and H: 6.5cm/2.8in.

This is a molded gray clay brick/tile from the Tang Dynasty, featuring an "Atlas" type Yakshi figure seated on a lotus blossom. I encountered a similar figure during my visit to Taxila, the cradle of the Gandharan Civilization, which highlights the Greco-Roman origins of Tang art. The lotus signifies a clear Buddhist connection. While the left side of the face is slightly obscured, there is no damage. This piece is unusual in that it is smaller than others I have owned...

Unusual Ming Dynasty stoneware celadon glazed censer on a reddish clay body, possibly Longquan or an allied kiln, uncommon to see fine translucent craquelure on Longquan, though. Good condition- no cracks or damage just some bits of kiln grit adhering to the glaze surface. D: 11.5cm/4.5in and H: 5.5cm/2.1in

Sale Price- reduced from $800 to $500. Rare stoneware jar circa Southern Song or Jin Dynasties jar with soy brow glaze and russet and Jun type, phosphatic splashes. This is heavily potted with an applied dragon chasing a flaming pearl. The brown glaze has a subtle metallic iron oxide patina. It is usually assumed that the blue splashes are accidental (serendipitous) rather than intentional in these brown glazes...

Rare soy brown glazed stoneware vessel made in the shape of a grain silo. This basic style are well documented in Qingbai wares but this is the first I have seen in a brown glaze, also it has a fence going around the base which is quite unusual. It is in excellent condition with no repairs, cracks or fritting of the glaze and it is unusually large. H: 24cm/9.5in and D: 18cm/7in. It reminds me a lot of a Jizhou glaze but this seems heavier and more stable.

Six Tang Dynasty miniature tomb figures of Chinese noblewoman Heights are 6cm-10cm. Please see notes in enlargements for actual size and condition. These were collected from different sites and represent an eclectic collection. Also note last image for all six images together.

Good porcelain quality Qingbai bowl from Jingdezhen with classic sea green colored glaze and sugar like clay body. There is an internal firing hairline crack noted midway in the cavetto noted in enlargements- still has a clear bell like tone when tapped. . There are remnants of an original metal rim fused on the mouth rim. D: 16cm/6.2in and H: 5.9cm/2.2in.

Special offer: 4 Tang Dynasty terra cotta statues, all have had repair i.e. heads glued back on- (two are not the original heads). The amber glazed figure has the original sanca glaze though not very shiny. Dimensions note in enlargement text.

Rare early “si zhi” (four straight lines) style inkstone carved from an old fired brick. The characters on the brick are in an archaic style, no longer in use today. The square shaped flat bottomed inkstone with sloping grinding surface did not become popular until the Song Dynasty, so it is possible this was made into a inkstone long after it was a brick. Chinese are very fond of creating ink stones out of “found objects” such as roof tiles etc...

Unusual pottery bowl with hand molded snake handle. This came out of China and has a good petrichor and water absorption on the base, circa 2000-1000BCE. 14cm/5.5in and H: 12cm/4.7in.

Lovely two handled pottery jar from the Northern China circa (2200 BCE – 1600 BCE), Classic Qijia Period in near perfect condition with just a couple of minor chips on one handle. H: 12.9cm/5.1in and W: 11.8cm/4.7in.
