Classic buff pottery ox from the Tang Dynasty- a very sturdy and well sculpted piece. This would clean up very nicely with just a soak, a rinse and possibly a soft bristled tooth brush. I left the mud on because it shows the traces of mineralized plant roots and some collectors like that “in situ” look. Excellent condition, no damage. Can clean if any buyer wants me to but this will result in the loss of the white pigment under the dirt. L: 16cm/6.2in and H: 11cm/4.2in.

Rare one of a kind astrological animal (tiger) from the Western Jin Dynasty- the front legs may have been ground down. Fantastic detail with traces of a thin lead glaze, noticeable from the areas of silver patina (see 4th enlargement). L: 10.1cm/4in and H: 4cm/1.6in. See last image for reference of Yueyao vessel with somewhat identical dating to the Western Jin.

Lovely gray pottery head of a smiling woman from the Han Dynasty, Sichuan province. Early funerary art from Sichuan is quite distinct from the Han from the Central Plains of Shaanxi. In general Han Sichuan images show more emotion in their expressions and are far less abstract. Prior to their assimilation during the Qin Dynasty, Sichuan was composed of ethnically and politically separate non Han cultures...

Rare collection (5 pieces) of pottery tobacco pipes used by the Rau/Brau people. These were acquired in Laos quite a few years. These were fired at the Yixing Kilns, in Jiangsu Province- the same place that made opium pipe bowls. These would date from late 19th century to first half 20th century- the ones with reddish clay being the oldest. They have some small chips consistent with old tribal pieces...

Han green glazed censer with little bear legs. Much of the lead glaze has turned white with a some silver patina. There is some minor glaze loss and one of the legs has been repaired (examine enlargements). Han ”hill jars” come in this general style but are smaller and have much thicker walls, I have seen similar this type in unglazed pottery, which makes this style quite rare, D: 24cm/9.5in and H: 16cm/6.2
