Good Cizhou type high fired, well balanced, ovoid soy glazed with russet highlights jar from a northern kiln, circa- Five Dynasties to Northern Song. There is a possible chip on the outer mouthrim (see enlargement)- difficult to tell if this happened after firing or before. There are remnants of kiln supports on the concave foot. H: 9.6cm/3.8in and D: 10.3cm/4in.

Song Qingbai shallow bowl with incised floral medallion in center. This is a cleaned shipwreck recovery piece, with classic greenish blue glaze. No cracks ut a chip on the unglazed rim- as can be seen in enlargements. D: 16.8cm/6.7in and H: 4.3cm/1.4in.

Tang dynasty brick impressed lotus, repurposed into a functioning ink stone. Although the lotus is represented in Han Dynasty secular art, this style of lotus is always associated with Buddhism, which would be more in common during the Tang. The ink grinding surface is a little rough but to me gives it a a naturalistic charm, like a lake in the mountains. The scale is enlargements.

Han dynasty brick with impressed classic Han dragon, repurposed into a functioning ink stone. The aesthetic of the inkstone is in the Song “shizi” style. Scale is noted in enlargements.

Pair of lovely light turquoise pastel blue Qingbai glazed jars with lotus leaf shaped lids circa 1200 CE, which would put them on the cusp of Southern Song/Yuan Dynasties. The lids have been restored- so please see enlargements, jars are in good condition with no damage. H: 16.5cm/6.5in and D: 12cm/4.8in.

Song Dynasty light green glazed stoneware bowl from a Fujian- Minnan or Putian kiln. This bowl has an elegant deeply incised abstract foliate pattern, and everted notched rim Good original condition- some kiln grit and a firing crack at the bottom of cavetto, has bell like tone when tapped. D: 17cm/6.8in and H: 6.5cm/2.8in.

Good porcelain quality Qingbai bowl from Jingdezhen with classic sea green colored glaze and sugar like clay body. There is an internal firing hairline crack noted midway in the cavetto noted in enlargements- still has a clear bell like tone when tapped. . There are remnants of an original metal rim fused on the mouth rim. D: 16cm/6.2in and H: 5.9cm/2.2in.

Very fine circa 1300-1400CE, Cizhou type lugged jar with thick iron brown and black glaze. Very beautiful piece in excellent condition (some original kiln flaws tiny frits , bubble burst etc). H: 10.8cm/4.2in and D: 14cm/5.5in.

Delightful Qing Dynasty café au lait glazed water dropper in the shape of a fish in a basket, it is quite heavy for its size and the brown glaze has a strong metallic patina possibly emulating bronze. Most likely from a Southern Kiln, in perfect condtion! D: 5.7cm/2.2in and H: 7.2cm/2.8in.

Rare “kiln waster” possibly from the Qingliangsi Kiln, Baofeng, Henan- see reference in last enlargement. D: 11.8cm/4.7in and H: 4cm/1.6in. Very shiny black glaze. There is one star crack on the side as well as “slag” adhesions on the rim. Please examine enlargements.

Early stoneware celadon glazed large basin shaped bowl circa Jin Dynasties (266CE–420CE) with wide flat mouth rim, incised wave patterns on rim and cavetto. D: 19.4cm/7.6cm and H: 5.9cm/2.3in. Charming Cizhou style ceramic pillow as a cat, circa late Qing to Republic period in perfect condtion! Great expression- captures the way a cat can gaze so intently at something while appearing calm- as if it is about to pounce on an unsuspecting prey. The Victoria and Albert have one in their TT Tsui Gallery and the Tianjin Porcelain Museum has one on display as well. L: 31cm/12.2in, H: 15.5cm/6.1in and W: 11.5cm/4.5in

Beautiful large Cizhou type black glazed reddish clay, stoneware jar with vivid russet splashes, circa Yuan/Ming Dynasty 1100/1400CE. This has a strong iridescent paraffin surface patina. A few chips under the lip the mouthrim, and craquelure (these are surface glaze cracks only and do not go into the body0 please examine enlargements. H: 38cm/15in and D: 33cm/13in. Good early Yuan Dynasty Qingbai bowl from a Jingdezhen kiln. This has a porcelain quality body with a clear bell like ring when tapped. The “spinning lines” that spiral up to the rim, are quite unusual and actually give it some grip when holding the bowl in both hands- ideal for using it as a “chawan” in a Japanese tea drinking ceremony...

Good black glazed with large swathes of russet jug circa Ming Dynasty bottle with two lugs. There are a few chips on the lower edge of mouth. This kind of ware was the “coke bottle” of their day, common place household/kitchen items, almost every home would have a few. No reason (after a good cleaning and sanitation) you couldn’t reuse for your favorite poteen, bai jiu or single malt. H: 21cm/8.2in and D: 14.5cm/5.8in.

Song Qingbai bowl with high foot rim and thick classic aquamarine Qingbai glaze, there is a 1cm hairline off the mouthrim (noted in last enlargement) otherwise good condition. The glaze is absolutely fabulous. D: 14cm/5.5in and H: 7cm/2.8in

Quirky ceramic image of a boy and beast emulating lacquer and wood, circa late Qing Dynasty or Republic Period. This is the first time I have seen a ceramic glaze imitating lacquer (also note the bottom imitates wood). L: 10cm/4in and H: 7cm/2.8in. This has few small chips.

Rare scholar’s item, Yue type glazed brushwasher in the shape of an alms bowl, circa 500-600CE from a southern kiln. This has two hairline cracks running off the rim (please see enlargements). Fired with a dense dark gray clay. D: 6.8cm/3.4in and H: 4.3cm/1.6in. Free shipping.
