Very fine polished shouldered stone axe from the late Neolithic Period, found in Nan Province Thailand near the Lao Border. Good strand of quartz crystal beads (and a few carnelians) excavated from the Tak Burial site near. Mae Sot along the Thai/Burmese border. These can be reliable dated to least 14th/16th centuries due to known and datable ceramics that were found in the same strata, but having said these can be much older as stone beads and have been traded in the region for at least 2000 years. Rare antique large Thai “parang”, used to cut and split rattan and bamboo etc to create everything from baskets, village house walls to fish traps. The handle is made of old, and nowadays rare, Thai Rosewood: Dalbergia cochinchinensis and the iron blade is quite heavy and robust. The cutting edge is still sharp and usable, there are a couple of splits which is secured by a metal band. L: 64cm/25.2in.
