Old Chinese stone ware bottle. This shape is fairly generic and could date anywhere from Jin Dynasty to Ming, so I am taking the middle road and attributing it as Yuan. The mouth is chipped but it has a nice shape, note my photo editing software tend to truncate images, so this piece is more elegant in real life than the photos indicate. The glaze has traces of a paraffin patina. H: 24cm/9.5in and D: 18cm/7in.

Fine Cizhou image of boy carrying a lotus, this symbolizes the continued succession of sons. This piece is in pristine original condtion. High fired stoneware with very stable heavy glaze. H: 17.5cm/6.9in and W: 9cm/3.5in. Guaranteed to be at least Qing Dynasty but possibly Ming.

Song Dynasty Jun ware brush shaper or brushwasher. This was originally the base of flower vase which was later reworked into a scholar’s object. The brown clay indicates this was fired in Henan and in my opinion is representative of the kind that was acquired for the Imperial Qing collection rather then the more typical bowls and saucers. Small wide mouth grey pottery jar with “soy” brown glaze from an unknown Southern Kiln. The glaze resembles Jizhou ware. Circa Song Dynasty or earlier, the body is quite thinly potted with delicate lugs near the mouth. There is fritting on the mouth and handle but no cracks or chips. H: 9cm/3.5in and D: 6cm/2.3in.

Heavy porcelain crackle glazed bitong with simple cobalt blue and copper red underglaze pattern. Usual rectangular shape. Excellent condition. Republic period or earlier. H: 11.8cm/4.6in and W: 5.5cm/2.2in.

Large pale green glazed plate with incised decoration, most likely from the Thantwe kiln near present day Rangoon, Burma. Excavated from the Tak Burial site near, Mae Sot along the Thai/Burmese border. This can be reliably dated to least 14th/16th centuries due to other known and datable ceramics from China and Thailand that were found in the same strata. Elegantly simple burnished high fired pottery cup from Warring States to Early Han Dynasty. There is one crack and a couple of chips noted in last enlargements. Pretty much to be expected from an over 2000 year old pottery piece. D:9.9cm/3.9in and H: 7cm/2.7in.

Exceptionally rare, handled drinking vessel from the Liao (Khitan) people, circa 907 CE to 1279 CE. There are very few Liao pottery pieces in collections today so this piece would of interest to anyone specializing in this period. Please note last enlargement for reference of a similarly shaped gilt silver piece dating form this period. Old wooden stand acquired from a US expat estate in 1987, this was made between 1950 and 1980. The legs are inserted. Minor natural “check” in the top, and this piece is sort of shaped like Australia (no extra charge). 14cm/5.5in x 10cm/4cm and 4cm/1.6in.

Lovely small meiping from Northern China, circa 1000CE- possibly Liao.. I have repaired it with epoxy and 23k gold leaf (wabi sabi kintsugi). This is a high fired gray stoneware dipped in a white slip and then fired with translucent overglaze. Condition as is, attractive wood stand included. :11.8cm/4.7cm and D: 7.2cm/2.9in.

Tang/Five Dynasties, stoneware jar with light olive green glaze and reddish clay body. The foot is rimless and concave. There is a “Jun” type glaze run on the body noted in enlargements- probably unintentional but interesting nonetheless. I have done simple repair on the mouth by filling a shallow chip and applying a layer of gold leaf. H: 12cm/4.8in and D: 9cm/3.5in.

1# Good buff pottery jar from the QIjia Neolitic Culture (circa 2200 BCE – 1600 BCE,) Gansu Province. I old chip on the rim, noted, otherwise very good condition. Lovely Jin Dynasty circa 1115-1234CE, from a northern kiln, jar with near tea dust colored soy brown glaze, excellent original condition, heavily potted with two lugs. Please note tow subtle russet splashes in last enlargement. D: 10.5cm/4.1in and H: 8.1cm/3.2in.

Good Cizhou type high fired, well balanced, ovoid soy glazed with russet highlights jar from a northern kiln, circa- Five Dynasties to Northern Song. There is a possible chip on the outer mouthrim (see enlargement)- difficult to tell if this happened after firing or before. There are remnants of kiln supports on the concave foot. H: 9.6cm/3.8in and D: 10.3cm/4in.

Quirky Cizhou type, heavy, completely black glazed, waisted beaker from circa Ming Dynasty. Possibly this was used in a Chinese Apothecary, but this is just a best guess to its function. The hole on the bottom was made prior to firing and is part of the original design. Lovely thick glaze and aside from a couple of chips on the outside of the foot, in very good condition. H: 13cm/5.1in- width at base : 8.7cm/3.8in and width at mouthrim : 11cm/4.3in.

Lovely vintage ge type glazed wine cup, circa mid 20th century (not new, but not too old), most likely from Fujian or Guangdong. D: 9.5cm/3.8in and H: 5cm/2in.

Rare 4.9cm/1.9in Thai green glazed stoneware bowl from the Sankampaeng kiln circa 15th/16th CE with two fish in the center and scalloped cavetto, there is well done repaired chip on the inner rim noted last enlargement. This is a classic and definitive piece for the Sankampaeng kiln as the incised/impressed fish motif is only found on ceramics from this Thai kiln. Classic green glazed Han Dynasty grain storage silo. This item has been repaired (by me), please examine enlargements for condition. This has an excellent lead glazed silver patina and well executed little bears for legs. H: 27cm/10.6in and D: 20cm/7.9in (at the roof).

Lovely pottery small lead glazed stove from the Eastern Han Dynasty (202 BCE – 220 CE). Minor fritting and a couple of chips on the upper corners, but overall, in very good condition for a two thousand year old piece. There are still random traces of the silver patina on the surface. I scraped off a small section the surface layer and a beautiful silver patina is revealed (see enlargement #5), up to the buyer of they want to clean the whole piece. Rare grey pottery recumbent dog, circa Han Dynasty. Traces of original white pigments- very friendly looking “doggo”. Excellent condition. L: 25cm/9.8in and W: (midpoint) 8cm/3.1in.

Northern Song vitreous glazed over white slip Cizhou jar. Nice ivory toned piece emulating Ding ware. There is a simple repair on one side of the body which is pointed out in photos and chip on mouth rim. Dimensions: 13cm/2.9in width and 9.5cm/3.7in height. This from a Northern Kiln most likely Henan, or Shanxi.

A timely and quirky soy brown glazed Korean War era chopstick holder with political slogans. The left hand column translates as “support your family and the Chinese military”, the right hand “oppose America, support Korea” and the top characters “increase productivity”. Beautiful “Cizhou” type black storage jug with lugs probably used for preserved vegetables, circa Ming Dynasty. A very attractive piece with lovely contrasting black and russet glazes, and paraffin patina throughout. Good example what would have been used in an ancient Chinese kitchen. Perfect condition, except for one very small glaze chip inside the mouthrim, noted in last enragement. H: 18.5cm/7.2in and D: 18cm/7.1in.

Delightful Qing Dynasty café au lait glazed water dropper in the shape of a fish in a basket, it is quite heavy for its size and the brown glaze has a strong metallic patina possibly emulating bronze. Most likely from a Southern Kiln, in perfect condition! D: 5.7cm/2.2in and H: 7.2cm/2.8in.

Unusual pottery bowl with hand molded snake handle. I cannot find any pieces similar in style to this although the reddish clay and heavy potting are reminiscent of Hongshan pottery. This came out of China and has a good petrichor and water absorption on the base, very old- at least 2000 to 3000 years old but probably older. W: 14cm/5.5in and H: 12cm/4.7in.

Jian ware black glazed bowl with fine russet hare’s fur streaks. Southern Song dynasty. No chips or cracks but there are areas where the glaze from another piece had fallen onto it during firing- the "wabi sabi" is strong in this one, suitable for a Japanese Tea Ceremony. D: 12.3cm/4.9in and H: 6.2cm/2.4in.

Rare “kiln waster” possibly from the Qingliangsi Kiln, Baofeng, Henan- see reference in last enlargement. D: 11.8cm/4.7in and H: 4cm/1.6in. Very shiny black glaze. There is one star crack on the side as well as “slag” adhesions on the rim. Please examine enlargements. May still be used for tea ceremony if you don't mind a little "wabi sabi"

230.00 Unusual gray stoneware jar found of the West Coast of Sri Lanka. Impossible to accurately identify it’s origin, I am assuming it is from East or Southeast Asia possibly even Japanese. This was acquired in Kandy, Sri Lanka over 20 years ago. I would date this to about 10th to 12th century. The mouthrim is unique, stopper would be inserted and covered than it tied down with a cord. H: 22cm/8.6in x D 17cm/6.8in. Very attractive piece, just a shallow chip on the mouth rim.

Lovely pair of exquisite, miniature porcelain vases with Ge type glaze circa mid-20th century (possibly older). On the bottom there are two characters “ya wan”, meaning elegant entertainment. These might have been made for a private collection, this is a specialist craft that requires a high level of skill. Would make classic doll’s house furniture. H: 5cm/2in and D: 2.4cm/1in. Rare pair of three legged, brown glazed pottery barbeque grills. The Han Dynasty was unique in making replicas for cooking in the afterlife. These two pieces are in excellent condition with very minor fritting and no damage; please note that there is still a bit of the original soil it was excavated in stuck to the surface, with a bit of patience this can be cleaned off. Very rare Warring States jar with ribbed pattern. I’ve seen these in publications, but this is the first one I have seen in person. There is one chip on the mouthrim, as can be seen in enlargements, but otherwise in excellent condition. Very sharply carved with decorated lugs. H: 13cm/5.1in and D: 16cm/6.2in.
