Fine strand of cobalt blue trade Chinese blue glass beads circa Ming Dynasty. These were excavated from the Tak Burial site near. Mae Sot along the Thai/Burmese border. These can be reliable dated to least 14th/16th centuries due to known and datable ceramics that were found in the same strata. These were cherry picked for their consistency in color, as usually I can only get mixed strands. See enlargement for scale and condition. L: 58cm/23.5in...

Exceptionally rare small storage jar with typical Burmese style floral scrolls under a green tin based glaze. Probably originally from the Mon, Pegu (Bago) kiln. The inside of the jar is glazed in a cream colored glaze and presumably the decoration is done in the same glaze under the green. H: 28cm/11in and D: 22cm/8.6in. There is some wear on the on the shoulder and rim with one chip on he mouthrim.

Good bronze bowl from the Khmer culture circa 11th/12th CE. There is one possible repair on the side (noted in enlargements) as the surface seems softer than the rest of the piece- but I could be wrong. Typical Khmer patina and pitting as to be expected from old bronze. D: 16cm/6.2in and H: 9cm/3.5in.

Old Tibetan Yak Butter Tea bowl carved from burlwood, possibly Rhododendron, it can be anywhere from 50 to a 100 years old. Most of the more recent ones will have spinning marks on the bottom where it would have been turned on a machine lathe. The dimensions are D:11.8cm/4.6in and H: 5cm/1.9in, there is one worn chip on the edge which is pretty normal for these things.

Unusual gilt bronze with white nephrite cabochon. Possibly used as a place to hang a knife from a belt by Tibetan aristocracy but to be honest I am not sure. It is a quirky well crafted item and certainly at least Qing Dynasty. This may be repurposed as a ring or pendant. 3.3cm x 4cm. Free shipping via Hong Kong registered airmail.

Exceptionally fine and sophisticated polished stone axe. This was acquired in Northern Thailand and aside from that I have no further information. This could be anywhere from 4000 to 2000 years old. The stone has a jade like hardness and cannot be scratched with a steel blade. From the curvature of the piece I am guessing this might have been used to hollow out wood. The cutting edge is still amazing sharp with only minute chips. L: 13cm/5.1in and W: 2.8cm/1.1in at midpoint.

Strand of Yuan to Ming Dynasty glass trade beads excavated from the Tak Hilltop burial site along the Thai Burmese border. Because of the 14th to 16th CE ceramics found the same strata it is easy to date these beads being from no later than this period, although archaic jade items over a thousand years old were found as well, these were most likely ancient trade items that have been circulating for over a millennia. Scale is in enlargements...

Rare 4.9cm/1.9in Thai stoneware bowl from the Sankampaeng kiln circa 15th/16th CE with two fish in the center and scalloped cavetto, there is well done repaired chip on the inner rim noted in enlargements. This is a classic and definitive piece for the Sankampaeng kiln as the incised/impressed fish motif is only found on ceramics from this Thai kiln. There are some blue flambé highlights in the center, probably accidental but quite attractive. D: 21.5cm/8.2in and H:

Good Ming celadon bowl from the Longquan kiln. This has three old compression cracks and one small glaze chip noted in enlargements. I bought this because of shape; I quite liked the way the mouth narrows a bit almost like an alms bowl. This piece is less truncated in real life than the photos might indicate. D: 12.5cm/4.7in and H: 7.2cm/2.89in.

Large terra cotta impressed votive plaque from the ancient Thai Mon Dvararati Kingdom, of Haripunchai. This piece shows a strong affinity with Pagan and Burmese Mon votive tablets in the architectural style of the chedis and arched lintel over the Buddha’s head, however the face of the image is classic Haripunchai style and period circa 10/1tth CE. Rare silk Cambodian ikat lower garment L: 288cm/113.in and W: 90cm/35.5in with twill weave; unique to Khmer textiles. This skill died out during the reign of the Khmer Rouge and has not yet recovered the skills and technique to make a textile of this quality. The size of this piece indicates it would have been worn by an upper class family much like a pantaloon with center being passed through the legs and tucked into the waist...

Ensemble of rare banded agate, dzi type, faience, glass, shell, and lapis, ceramic, and carnelian small beads. These were collected in Lahore, Pakistan in the 1980s by Bucklee Bell, ex Peter Francis bead research and collaborator to the Bead Project and Center for Bead Research. This is an eclectic collection of “Bronze Age” ancient beads from Central Asia- ideal for a study collection or the serious bead collector. The shell beads are particularly lovely with smooth worn patina...
