Rare strand of quartz crystal beads (and a few carnelians) excavated from the Tak Burial site near, Mae Sot along the Thai/Burmese border. I acquired these about 10 years in Thailand, these were the last lot I could find, and are very difficult to get these nowadays unless you want to buy single beads. Artifacts from these digs are from 14th/16th CE due to datable ceramics that were found in the same strata, but having said this, these are much older, as similar beads and have been foun...

Collection of six tin and lead alloy coins from the Mon kingdom of Pegu, Burma now (Bago, Myanmar) circa 1500CE. There are 6 pieces all in excellent condition. Two have Chinthe images (Burmese mythical lions), two are peacocks, one has a Shankha (one of the eight auspicious symbols of Buddhism) and one with what looks to be a spider. Unusual pottery bowl with hand molded snake handle. I cannot find any pieces similar in style to this although the reddish clay and heavy potting are reminiscent of Hongshan pottery. This came out of China and has a good petrichor and water absorption on the base, very old- at least 2000 to 3000 years old but probably older. W: 14cm/5.5in and H: 12cm/4.7in.

Fine and rare Ming Dynasty, emulating white Jade, belt fastener made of glass. There are a few tiny chips but they are too small to photograph. Good Tang Dynasty gray clay brick/tile depicting “Atlas” type, Yakshi figure seated on a lotus blossom. I was in Taxila, (cradle of Gandharan Civilization) and saw a similar figure. This illustrates the Greco/Roman influence in Tang art. The lotus shows indicates an obvious Buddhist connection. The left side of the face is molded a bit obscure, but no damage. Minor fritting and a couple of chips on the upper corners, but overall, in very good condition for a two thousand year old piece. There are still random traces of the silver patina on the surface. I scraped off a small section the surface layer and a beautiful silver patina is revealed (see enlargement #7), up to the buyer of they want to clean the whole piece. Very fine polished shouldered stone axe from the late Neolithic Period, Nan Province Thailand, near the Lao Border. I acquired a collection a few of these in 2009 and this is the best of the lot.
