Nice old antique black lacquered bamboo and wood box from Cambodia circa early 20th century. This part of a collection I acquired almost 20 years ago. Khmer lacquer is quite rare, not many crafts survived the Khmer Rouge era, and is a lost art. Some wear as to be expected but no major damage. D: 5cm/7.8in and H: 10.5cm/4.1in.

Rare Qing Dynasty “brush shaper” with Ge type glaze and deep inset footrim. The shallow and rimless surface would allow the calligrapher or painter to shape the tip of their brush into a fine point for detailed work. Excellent condition. D: 14.5cm/5.7in and H: 2.5cm.

Nice pair of Southern Song, small bowls from Jian kilns in Fujian. The first bowl is solid black with a brown rim and subtle hare’s fur markings beneath, this one has a star hairline crack noted in enlargements and the second bowl has an obvious firing crack with stunning russet highlights beneath a brown rim and hare’s fur markings. These are both very thinly potted and delicate. Bowl 1#, D: 10cm/3.9in and H: 4.5cm/3.8in. 2#, Bowl D: 9.3cm/3.6in and H: 4.4cm/1.8in,

Three Song Dynasty Jian type temokku glazed bowls from Dongzhang or Minhou kilns in Fujian province. These have nice color but have repairs the worst is noted in enlargements, but the rest are quite small on the rims. Discovering the rest would require me to scrape them with knife which would defeat the purpose of them being repaired in the first place. These were recovered from the Tinghai Lianjiang wreck off the coast of Fujian about 15 years ago. D: 11cm/4.3in and H: 4cm/1.5in.

One of kind, single supplementary weft embroidered panel, L: 4.63m/14.2ft and W: 36.5cm/13.8in, from the Tujia ethnic group in Guizhou, Southwest China. Its function is a bit of mystery so it being a sling wrap around baby carrier is my best guess. Originally I thought it might be a traditional wedding blanket that would be cut and sewn with three panels together but there is no border pattern woven into this piece as is typical...

Absolutely fabulous MOP rosewood candy box, with compartmented tray for the Chinese market acquired in Saigon, Vietnam, in 1991. When I originally got this it was filled with 1920s French newspaper clippings. This has an abundance of Chinese auspicious symbols and would have been commissioned for an affluent Chinese family at Chinese New Year’s Years aka Tet in Vietnam...

Good small mottled gray nephrite perforated disc, circa Tang Dynasty or earlier. D: 2.4cm/.9in and thickness: 8mm/.22in. Lovely stone- please examine close ups where I have highlighted “tell tale” carving lines with red arrows of a genuine ancient piece. This was probably part of a series of center leftover cuts from a much larger Bi.
