Rare small vase for the scholar’s desk with chocolate brown bronze glaze circa 19th century Qing Dynasty. There is one small chip inside the foot rim noted in enlargement #3. Otherwise perfect condition. H: 12.1cm/4.7in and D: 6.8cm/2.6in. Please note that the vase is more slender than the images might indicate so I have taken one with it laying on its side.

Large 19th century Qing Dynasty blue and white porcelain plate with auspicious symbols- the center is decorated with two birds perched in peonies, bordered by bats, and lotus scrolls, the outer border consists of peach blossoms interspersed with butterfly and fish panels- the reverse has an apocryphal Qianlong seal script mark, and bamboo. There is one 5cm/2in firing crack and a couple of chips on the foot rim- please examine enlargements. This is a dramatic piece with a beautiful ...

Alabaster Shan Buddha circa 18th century. This has been left out in the sun and rain for the past 10 years so the surface has begun to degrade (a good lesson in the Buddhist fundamental of Anicca: the impermanence of all things). The head has been reattached. The base is hollow: the only example I have ever seen with this. H: 27cm/10.6in and W: 11cm/4.2in.

Collection of vintage/antique rice sickles. Except for the Cambodian piece these are all listed individually on my site. Would like to sell all as a collection. Fine pair of old scythes from Sri Lanka with incised decorations on blade surface; the one with deer horn handle has some Sinhalese script either an owner’s or maker’s mark. The steel is good condition with sharp cutting edges. Both are in excellent condition. Outer curvilinear length of the blades are 51cm/20in....

Large wooden image depicting a scholar in charge of records and writing (sort of a heavenly bureaucrat) circa 18th/19th century, from a Taoist Temple. H: 89cm/31in and W: 28cm/11in. The seat and statue are carved separately and the head has been repaired at the neck. Traces of original pigment.

Southern Song vase with Jizhou glaze and impressed floral and lotus patterns, an interesting piece in that this type of piece is usually found in Qingbai ware, with which they were often fired at the same kilns with. There are some blue highlights and minor fritting in the glaze (as is typical of Jizhou) and one repaired chip which may be viewed in last enlargement. H: 15cm/5.9in and D: 8cm/3.1in.

Classic Ming celadon bowl from the Longquan kiln, unfortunately the photos do not do this piece justice. It is a heavy, meaty piece at just under near one l kilo/2 lbs in weight. It is just about one shade darker from being classified as a “sea green”, the best approximation to matching the color may seen in enlargement 3 showing the pattern of the impressed chrysanthemum. As my photo editing software tends to truncate images it is not as flat and wide as the photos indicate. This ...

Nice old pre war shop sign from Hong Kong. The characters read Yuan Sheng Tai. It has been suggested to me this from a rice shop, although I am not sure- I am assuming the characters refer to the name of the owner. Very heavy hard wood, weighs about 8kg. H: 98cm/38.5in and W: 44cm/7.2in one chip on upper right hand corner. Lovely old Hong Mu wood with nice grain.

Six bronze rings from China circa pre Han Dynasty 200BCE. These appear to be excavated and were most likely trade items or primitive currency used by a non Chinese ethnic group like the Xiongnu or Ordos. D: 5.8cm to 6.5 cm weighing between 49 grams and 55 grams and seem to have a high copper content.

Old and rare Angami Naga shamilami design, three paneled wrap woven by the Meitei of the Manipur State of India and used as a trade/tribute cloth to the Nagas. Made from very fine hand spun cotton weft and silk warp in natural dyes. The fabric is incredibly smooth and supple and must be touched to really appreciate the fine quality. The embroidered “floating weft” pattern consists of owls, horses, elephants and flowers. A few holes in the salmon pinkish side borders, the bigg...

Woman's Blanket from the Chin, Mizo people of Assam or Western Burma. This type of “prestige cloth” would be worn only by married women on ceremonial occasions. Some stains, splits at the ends but exceptionally rare and very fine weaving incorporating several techniques. Silk warp cotton weft. Approximately circa 50- 80 years old. Nice old attractive, pre war Hong Kong shop sign. The left hand characters read (upper) Hong Kong and (lower) Jin Yuan- the name of artisan. The two large characters read Zhi Li. I am not sure what kind of shop this came from but it has been suggested to me it is from either a lumber shop or construction company. In good condition although some of the red and gold lacquer has came off. Very rare these days to find anything, left from Old Hong Kong. H: 37cm/14.5in and L: 74cm/29in.

Rare and beautiful circa 6th CE thick cylindrical long cylider shaped Pre Khmer banded agate bead. I acquired this about 13 years ago in Thailand; at that time I was told it came out of Cambodia. Recently I came across a photo reference for this type of bead- Khmer Gold: Gifts for the Gods: Emma Bunker and Douglas Lateford, which identifies this as pre 6th century which would make it either Chenla or Funan Kingdoms, and excavated in Banteay Meanchy Province, Cambodia, which backs up the origin...
