Fine and rare Song/Yuan period green glazed pottery turtle. I am of the opinion that is from the independent Dali Kingdom, which existed in Yunnan from 937 CE to 1254 CE, until it was absorb into the Ming after the demise of the Yuan Dynasty. Documentation on Mingqi tomb figures from this era is scarce although simple images representing the Chinese zodiac animals are known as well as a few court officials. I have seen at least a hundred ceramic and bronze “offering vessels” ...

Beautiful sang de boeuf porcelain bowl repurposed from a large yuhuchunping vase. This is the bottom portion of broken vase that has been ground down and polished as to salvage what was usable from a very valuable antique piece. As far as I know this craft is no longer being done given the devolution of our society to simply throwing away things when they are broken rather then fix or reuse them as something else. This piece dates to Qing Dynasty. I have been told that the reddish ting...

Exceptionally rare Song Dynasty black glazed Cizhou type ewer with russet splashes and reddish high fired body from a Southern Kiln. This piece came out of Sichuan province, which is rich in archeological history but scant in references on their kiln productions, I am inclined to suggest this may have been fired at the Jinfeng Kiln in Sichuan, but until I can find images of their footrims, it is new an open case. Currently I am comfortable with dating this as early to mid Song based on t...

Good Shufu glazed shallow porcelain bowl from the Yuan Dynasty with unusual floral scalloped rim. There is a small firing crack on the rim and surface interior. This has impressed lotus interior design with feint characters inside the petals. D: 15.5cm/ 6.2in and H: 4.2cm/1.8in. Note: enlargement 6# portrays the color of the glaze most accurately; also the bowl is taller in real life as my photo software tends to truncate things a bit. D: 14.1cm/5.5in and H: 6cm/2.4in.

Stunning Jian ware bowl with silver dark brown markings, from Fujian. This piece was probably made within the last 40 years near Fuzhou. I used travel there back in 1980s and this type was sold locally for around $300 to $400 (mostly to Japanese tourists). Personally I think this looks better than a lot of the old pieces I have seen. Given the phenomenal prices fetched by similar of the period bowls, or acknowledged Japanese masters, this next best thing. D: 11.1cm/4.3ina and H: 4.9cm/1....

Lion shaped water dropper, from the Tang Dynasty, Changsha, Kiln in Hunan. The handle, spout and tail have been repaired, but every Changsha piece I have ever seen has been repaired in one way or another, as well as there being some chips on the face. Having said this about 90% of the glaze is intact and stable (this is not a shipwreck piece BTW). A very “cute” and fat little piece. L: 8.5cm/3.5in and H: 6.5cm/2.6in
