Gilt copper repousse head of a fierce Tibetan divine being. This was part of a much larger statue so it is difficult to specifically date and identify without seeing it in its original context, but is certainly an old piece 60 to 100 years or more. Possibly it was worn a necklace by a huge statue of a Yiddam or Dharmapala. H: 8cm/3.in. A perspex stand (H: 16cm/6.2) is included, but this not a custom made piece.

Nice old Tibetan rug with wool warp and weft. The knots are quite big which gives a pleasant folksy feel. There is one hole and a small tear on the side (noted in enlargements), the colors are muted and pastel, I am guessing this has a combination of aniline and natural dyes and would date this to late 19th/early 20th century. L: 148cm/58in and W: 87cm/34in.

Rare silk Cambodian ikat lower garment L: 288cm/113.in and W: 90cm/35.5in with twill weave; unique to Khmer textiles. This skill died out during the reign of the Khmer Rouge and has not yet recovered the skills and technique to make a textile of this quality. The size of this piece indicates it would have been worn by an upper class family much like a pantaloon with center being passed through the legs and tucked into the waist...

Good pair of Tang Dynasty gray clay bricks depicting “Atlas” type figures seated on lotus flowers. I was in Taxila once and saw similar figures which to my mind illustrate the Greco/Roman influence in Tang art. The lotus shows indicates an obvious Buddhist connection. Both pieces are painted with “stucco” in good condition with no damage. W: 14.5cm/5.8in and H: 17.7cm/7in each.

Fine and rare Tang or Sui Dynasty robustly potted, high fired , stoneware jar with yellowish green celadon glaze. The glaze on this piece is stable. H: 19.3cm/7.6in and D: 14cm/5.4in.

Exceptionally fine and well detailed authentic votive terra cotta plaque from the Pagan Culture, Burma, 1200-1300CE. This is the only signed piece I have ever seen from this type of artifact. I acquired this along the Northern Thai/Burmese border around 15 years ago, at one time these were quite plentiful but I have not seen any authentic pieces for the past 5 years. Please note reference in last enlargement from “Ancient Art of Burma”. H: 9.5cm/ 3.8in and base W: 7cm/2.8in.

Fine and eclectic half fish/half woman pottery figure from the Tang Dynasty- these are quite mysterious figures and rare. The only reference I can find on these quirky figures is in Oriental Art: Conrad Harris & Estelle Niles van Osselt~ Vol. L No. 4. which asks more questions then it answers, although it is commonly believed these are somehow related to Nuwa-Fuxi (Two human headed snake) images that figure prominently in Chinese creation myths...

Pair of unique and eclectic Shan lacquer images, from Thai/Burmese border. These are used for grinding down to make medicine or magic potions. The larger one is molded of compressed powder (the head has been broken off and glued back on) and unused circa 50 years old, the smaller one is hand carved from what looks to be a root and is circa 100 years old...

Fine and rare tunic group from the Li ethnic (Run speaking dialect) group Hainan Island. I acquired this piece on a trip to Hainan Island in 1987 and it is in pristine condition. The body is made from fine handspun intensely dyed indigo thread while the patterns are constructed from cotton and silk threads on what appears to be a bast fiber backing, please note that the embroidered panels are probably older than the blouse...

Lovely carved nephrite pendant with classic “cat on a leaf” motif. This piece has been re-carved to appear as the cat is sitting on a peapod (peapods being one of the myriad of C hinese symbols wishing one to have many children), but was really done to hide the damage on the sides of a larger leaf. This sill retains it’s essence of “kittyness” as she reposes languidly on the leaf. L: 7cm/2.8in.

Exceptionally rare Southern Song, Zhejiang Longquan, celadon water dropper in the shape of a double gourd ewer with a fine glaze. This piece has had the spout repaired with silver and has some cracks- please view enlargements. My photo editing software has truncated this piece a bit so it is more graceful than the pictures would indicate. H: 8cm/3.2in.

Good circa early 20th century blue rug with bogu pattern, i.e. displaying antique auspicious items. This has a classic Batou color scheme consisting of all blue colors. The center medallion and vases seem to be abstract Chinese seal calligraphy. Good condition but very slightly tatty on one head end- note last enlargement. W: 69cm/27in and W: 135cm/53in.
